Mechanism of action

Calcium sulfate acts as osteoconductive bone void filler that completely resorbs as the newly formed
bone remodels and restores anatomic features and structural properties. Calcium sulfate acts as a
resorbable osteoconductive scaffold that provides a structural framework for angiogenesis and
osteogenesis while preventing soft tissue invasion by acting as a space filler.

Uses

Use to prevent or treat low blood calcium sulfate levels in people who do not get enough calcium sulfate
from thier diets it may be used to treat conditions caused by low CaSo4 levels suchas bone loss
(Osteoporosis) weak bone (Rickets) decrease activity of the parathyroid gland (Hypoparathyroidism) and
latent tetany.

Dosage

 Adult - 1 caplet 1-2 x daily


 Adolescent and children 7-8 years old - 1/2 caplet 1-2 x daily
 Susp Children 1-3 tsp OD

Contraindication

 Hypersensitivity to the active substances


 Disease and/or conditons resulting in hypercalcaemia and/or hypercalciuria.
 Nephrocalcinosis, nephrolithiasis

Side effect

Constipation, nausea, unpleasant taste, mood or mental change, vomitting, excessive restlessness,
fatigue, loss of appetite, unusual weight loss, bone/muscle pain, headache, increased thirst/urination,
weakness, and unusual tiredness.
