The ever increasing quantities of waste water and
sewage are a threat to our continuously shrinking living
space. More industrialization and increasing demands
on living standards, particularly in large centers of
population, have caused higher effluent volumes, which
the natural hydrological cycle can no longer cope with.
A continuous increase in the volumes of effluent
which must be treated is, therefore, determined; ABS is
able to tackle the demands of the tomorrow thanks to
its decades of experience, the world renowned reliable
ABS quality, and using pump technology, meeting future
requirements.
The AFP - centrifugal pumps from ABS
ABS submersible pumps of the AFP series, with
nominal diameters from DN 100 to DN 800, have been
specially designed for pumping heavily polluted raw
sewage, and have proven themselves everywhere where
volumes of water or sewage must be pumped quickly
and reliably.
Submersible motors built in a modular concept with
an output range from 18.5 to 1000 kW are particular
features of this sewage pump range and are a guarantee
for reliability and high efficiency.

AFP Pumps -
The AFP pumps are compact unit constructions,
which may be installed either wet or dry thanks to the
efficient cooling system. The flood-proof pumps are
for every application suitable for all installation systems of modern water and
sewage technology and are suitable for every type of
the right installation whether for fixed or portable applications or
for horizontal or vertical installation.

Wet well installation

using the ABS automatic coupling system and single
guide rail. The pump is lowered along the guide rail and
automatically reaches its correct operating position on
the pedestal and seals itself at the discharge
connection.

Horizontal dry installation

with motor and volute support. This type of installation is
suitable for pump stations with a separate collection
sump or fitted to a tank.
This type of installation is a space and cost saving
alternative for the refurbishment of existing old pumping
stations.

Vertical dry installation

with skirt base. This type of installation is suitable for
pump stations with a separate collection sump or fitted
to tank.
This type of installation is a space and cost saving
alternative for the refurbishment of existing old pumping
stations equipped with long shaft pumps

Portable applications
with support ring, discharge elbow for hose- or pipe-

toughest applications. They often operate under
extreme conditions in continuous use, which makes a
permanent monitoring system essential.

With the seal monitoring system and thermal control 3
devices ABS offers an optimized safety system which

reports faults and wear of the unit in plenty of time.
Serious damage to the valuable submersible pump is
avoided.

The DI and TCS-system means that regular

inspections are no longer required and they give a
reliable indication, independently of the hours run, that
an inspection is necessary. An optical or acoustical
signal can be sent to a control unit or to a remote
control.

Motor monitoring:
Thermal sensors in every phase of the stator give a
timely warning or switch off the pump
automatically before temperature limits have been
exceeded.

Bearing monitoring:
Thermal sensors at the upper and lower bearings
switch off the unit automatically if the thermal limit
for the unit is exceeded (standard in motor size M6

The DI-sensors give an early warning that moisture
has entered. A timely inspection prevents the
failure of the unit.

ABS can supply the required monitoring electronics for

installation in the control panel on request.
Sensors to give a continuous temperature reading are

The ContraBlock™-System works with a combination of
various components:

1 toothed shearing ring on the upper side of the

impeller,

2 open single or multivane channel impeller with

sloped deflector edge at the impeller blade,

3 large suction inlet with wave shaped edges and

4 adjustable bottom plate with spiral groove.

Impeller variations with optimum efficiencies

The versatility of the AFP-program is achieved with the wide range of impeller types available. The choice of impeller
type is largely determined by the medium to be pumped. With the correct selection
of impeller type, reliable operation of the pump is ensured.

comparison to other material combinations.
