If communication is not occurring between the devices on the bus, check the following:
Verify proper S7999B setup (1234 Setup, Advanced Setup, User Preferences – Configuration, COM 1,
COM 2)
Perform a CPU reset after setting up the User Preferences for the changes to take effect.
The S7810M must be set for 19.2K baud (remove black pin/baud rate jumper).
S7810Ms on different burner/boiler nodes MUST have different modbus addresses.
When the S7810M is communicating, the amber MODE light on the front blinks rapidly, about once
per second.
Verify the communication polarity has been followed from device to device (Data +, Data -, C). Note
the UDC terminals vary by model. Also note the S7999B, S7810M, S7800, R7999 and S7830
designate Data + as terminal A and Data – as terminal B.
The wiring must be a daisy chain pattern from device to device to display – no branching allowed.
Communication may be interrupted if trying to attach 2 modbus masters to the bus.
Possible incompatible devices. If using an enhanced 7800 SERIES control (VPS, programmable post
purge), only certain series of S7800A and S7810M are compatible due to the longer message strings.
The S7800A1001 or S7800A1142 must be a series 5 or greater with a date code of 0620 or later. The
S7810M1003 must be a series 3 or greater with a date code of 0630 or newer.
The UDC must have the modbus card
