PATTERN CROCHET XXL RICO

© Annemarie Benthem

Hello,

Thank you for buying one of my patterns! For this pouf I used an 8 mm crochet hook and 8
balls of Rico Design Creative Melange Chunky (50g - 90m) in color 037. You can find it
here: https://www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/rico-creative-melange-chunky

As a filling I've used an inner cushion of 70cm wide and 25cm high. There are lots of inner
cushions available on the internet, you can find some on Etsy or you might have an IKEA
somewhere near you. CIf you don't want to use a cushion, you can use a blanket or a duvet
as well but of course that doesn't make the pouf as round as when using a round pillow.

My patterns are all written in US terms. If I use abbreviations this is what I use:

CH: chain
SLST: slip stitch
SC: single crochet
HDC: half double crochet
DEC: decrease
INC: increase

A few more tricks:

- Use a stitch marker or a small piece of yarn in a different color and tie it in the first
stitch of every row. That way you know where the next row has to end.
- If you decrease in this pattern, do so with half double crochet stitches unless stated
otherwise. To decrease with a half double crochet do the following: yarn around hook,
crochet hook in the next stitch, pull up yarn, yarn around hook, crochet hook in next
stitch, pull yarn up, yarn around hook, pull yarn through the four loops on your hook.
- In this pattern the increase is always 2 half double crochet (US terms) in the same
stitch, unless stated otherwise.
- Because not every pillow is the same, it’s wise to try every now and then if you pillow
fits in the cover. If your cover needs to be a bit higher, just do a few extra 161SC as
from row 27. Continue with the pattern as soon as your cover has the desired height.

Well, this should be a good start for your crochet pouf project! Should you have any other
questions, don't hesitate to contact me. I'm happy to help you out if necessary. You can reach

and every now and then I have fun giveaways. Good luck with your project!

PATTERN POUF

1. Chain 4, 1SLST in the first chain, chain 1, 6SC in the ring.

(If you prefer the magic ring, do 6SC in a magic ring. A tutorial on how to make the
magic ring is here: http://annemarieshaakblog.blogspot.nl/2011/11/how-to-make-
magic-ring.html)
2. INC around with SC stitches, so in every SC you do 2 SC (skip the chain-1 if you
didn’t use the magic ring). (12)
As from here, you start making HDC stitches (no chains in between row 2 and 3, just
continue with the next HDC). Use a stitch marker as from here.
3. * 1HDC, INC. * Repeat around. (18)
4. * INC, 1HDC. * Repeat around. At the end of this row you have 1 stitch left, make an
INC in that stitch. (27)
5. * INC, 1HDC. * Repeat round. At the end of this row you have 1 stitch left, make a
HDC in that stitch. (41)
6. 41HDC.
7. 41HDC.
8. * 1HDC, INC. * At the end of this row you have 1 stitch left, make a HDC in that stitch.
Repeat around. (61)

you have 1 stitch left, make a HDC in that stitch. Repeat around. (101)
15. 101HDC.
16. 101HDC.
17. * 4HDC (so 1HDC in each of the following 4 stitches), INC. * At the end of this row
you have 1 stitch left, make a HDC in that stitch. Repeat around. (121)

Last but not least

Designing crochet patterns is a time-consuming and difficult job. I'd love to see you make as
many poufs as you like for yourself or to give as a gift. But please do not make copies of this
pattern, don’t distribute this pattern, don’t share it and don’t sell it as if it is your design. If you
post your own pouf somewhere on the WorldWideWeb, I’d love it if you refer to my blog or
shop. Enjoy!
