I would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to my English


teacher “Mrs. Uma Kumar” as well as my principal “Mr. B.D. Targan”
who gave me the golden opportunity to do this wonderful project on
the topic “Evolution of Tricolour, Drafting Committee of our
Constitution and Freedom Fighters of Chhattisgarh & Gujarat”
which also helped me in doing a lot of Research and we came to
know about so many new things. We are really thankful to them.
THE TIRANGA

The Indian National Flag was adopted in its


present form during a meeting of the
Constituent Assembly held on 22 July 1947,
when it became the official flag of the India.
In India, the term “tricolour”(Hindi :
Tiranga) always refers to the Indian National
Flag. Safron indicates courage and sacrifice,
White indicates truth and purity, Green
indicates peace and prosperity and at the
centre of Indian National Flag Ashok
Chakra represents the Laws of
Dharma(righteousness).
DRAFTING COMMITTEE OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION

 Drafting committee was formed with 8


members, under the chairmanship of Dr. B.R.
Ambedkar.
 Members of committee were Alladi
Krishnaswami Ayyar, N. Gopalaswami, K.M.
Munshi, Mohammad Saadulla, B.L. Mitter, D.P.
Khaitan and B.N. Rau.
 The committee studied the constituions of
various countries and took the good features
from every constituion and included them in
the Indian Constitution.
 The draft was prepared by February 1998.
ALLADI KRISHNASWAMI AYYAR

His contributition to the constitution had to


do with most elemental parts of India’s
existance as a nation-state, namely citizenship
and adult franchise. “Citizenship carries with
its rights as well as obligations”.

N. GOPALASWAMI

His contribution was to draft article 370 of the


Constitution. He played a significant role in the
shaping of this article, which granted
considerable autonomy to the state of
Jammu&Kashmir.
K.M. MUNSHI
He was elected to the Constituent Assembly from
Bombay on a Congress Party ticket. He was one of
the most active members of the Assembly, some of
his interventions were in the debates relating the
fundamental rights, citizenship, and minority rights.

MOHAMMAD SAADULLA

He was the only member from Muslim league to


sit on the Drafting Committee. His interventions
in the Assembly revolved around securing
Assam’s financial stability and minority rights.
B.L. MITTER

B.L. Mitter with Dewan of Baroda. Mitter is said to


have made significant contrbution to integration of
Princely States with India. He was later replaced by
Madhav Rao on the drafting committee, who was
the legal advisor to the Mharaja of Vadodara.

D.P. KHAITAN

He also known as Debi Prasad Khaitan was the


owner of Khaitan & Co. He was a proficient
member of the drafting committee including 6
others.
B.N. RAU
He was appointed as the Constitutional Advisor to
the constituent assembly. He was responsible for
the general structure of its democratic frame work
of the constitution and prepared its initial drafting
in February 1948.

Dr. B.R. AMBEDKAR


He is recognised as the “Father of the Constitution of
India”. His responsibility was writing the constitution,
answering the questions arising in the constituent assembly
in terms of various articles and provisions, balancing the
various contrary and sometimes reversed provisions and
presenting the constitutions as a guiding document for
Indian society.
FREEDOM FIGHTERS FROM CHHATTISGARH

Veer Narayan Singh was a land lord from


Sonakhan, Chhattisgarh. He spearheaded the 1857
war of Indian Independence in Chhattisgarh. He is
also known and considered as “The 1st Chhattisgarhi
freedom fighter” he became the first martyr from
VEER NARAYAN SINGH Chhattisgarh in the war of independence.

Thakur Pyarelal Singh was an Indian freedom fighter


against British rule and the founder of labour
movements in Chhattisgarh. He led three workers’
movements in Rajnandgaon Riyast in 1919-1920, 1924
and 1937. He was also conferred with the honourery title
of “Tyagmurti” whis means “Epitome of Sacrifice”.
THAKUR PYARELAL SINGH
FREEDOM FIGHTERS FROM GUJARAT

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was from Gujarat. He is


known as “Iron man of India”, for succesfully persuading
over 500 princely states to accede to the independent
Indian union, he began the process of integration on
August 6, 1947 and successfully completed it by the dint
of his political maturity and persuasive skills.
SARDAR VALLABHBHAI PATEL

Indulal Kanaiyalal Yagnik was an Indian independence


activist, a leader of alla India kisan sabha and one who led
the Mahagujarat movement, which spearheaded the
demand for the separate statehood for Gujarat on 8
August, 1956. He is also known as Indu Chacha. He was
also a writter and film maker.
