It’s got clothes shops, toy shops, shoe shops, electrical stores and big department stores like this one – Selfridges.
In Selfridges there are lots of different stores selling well-known brands. These stores are smaller than those outside.
They sell all kinds of designer clothes, perfume and make-up.
A lot of shoppers feel that shopping in Selfridges is easier and more convenient than high street shopping. It’s got
everything under one roof, and offers lots of different services. In fact, shoppers recently voted Selfridges the world’s
best department store.
The London College of Fashion is also on Oxford Street. Some of the most famous fashion designers in the world
studied here.
Fashion is also very popular here – at Camden Market.
The market is nearly thirty years old and there are 500 thousand visitors to the area each week. Inside the market there
are over one hundred shops. They’re mostly smaller than high street stores and sell fashionable clothing at lower prices.
A lot of people think Camden Market is better than the high street. In fact, even some fashion designers shop here!
