The College of Engineering & Petroleum at Kuwait University is accepting applications for

faculty positions beginning Fall 2013/2014. Qualifications, Benefits and Privileges are all listed

 Thermal-fluid sciences, with an emphasis on experimental research.    Candidates with


experience in multidisciplinary research having environmental applications are especially
encouraged to apply.   
 Tribology and machine design (Failure analysis) with an emphasis on experimental
research.

Candidates with unique experimental or industrial experience are encouraged to apply. The
position requires a strong commitment to teaching, at both undergraduate and graduate levels,
and a strong commitment to committee work at the department and college levels.

Qualifications
Candidates must have:

1. Earned doctorates in area of specialization from an accredited first tier university.


2. The GPA of the Bachelors University degree higher than 3.00 in the 4.00 scale.
3. Research experience and strong publication record in referred international journals in the
area of specialization.
4. Demonstrated an evidence of outstanding teaching experience at an accredited university.
5. Good command of teaching in English.

Benefits and Privileges:


 Full coverage of medical care in governmental hospitals and clinics.
 Paid two month annual summer vacation and two-week mid-year vacation, according to
the University calendar.
 A monthly housing allowance is granted for faculty members in according to specific
terms:
1. Married individuals are given a one-time KD 4,500 furniture allowance and a sum
of KD 500 monthly.
2. Single individuals are given a one-time KD 3,500 furniture allowance and a sum
of KD 400 monthly.
 Paid conferences attendance, sabbatical leaves, and research grants.
 End of service sum is granted.
 In the case that faculty member’s children are not enrolled into public schools. The
University pays the fees for a maximum of 3 children, in accordance to the following
rules:
1. Non-Arab faculty members.
2. Kuwaiti or Arab faculty members who are recruited from non-Arab speaking
countries, where the children were enrolled into foreign schools in at least 2 years
of elementary schooling.
 Faculty members will be offered flexibility with air travel cargo:
1. When appointed, the faculty member, spouse, and a maximum of 3 children are
entitled to economy class air tickets (business class for Professors) from the place
of permanent residence.
2. He/she is eligible for 30kg excess baggage and 20kg for each member of the
family.
3. Faculty members are also authorized to freight shipment (land, sea, air) not
exceeding KD 200 (Amount will be refunded upon presenting adequate receipts).
4. Air tickets are issued annual summer vacation for faculty member and family to
the country of permanent residence (Female faculty members are granted tickets
to children only).
5. The University is not responsible for paying for tickets allowance for family
members who reside in Kuwait for 3 months or more.
6. If, upon arrival, faculty member chooses a land or sea route to Kuwait, the
University is in charge of only half the ticket and excess baggage costs.
7. Faculty members with local contracts are allowed annual air fare only.
