Overview:
In this era where everything is digitalized and can be accessed through Internet, such as
searching for information, cloud-computing, watch videos, cross-continent communication
and more. A device like a laptop which can satisfied all these needs eventually become
popular and necessary for not only office workers-but everyone (Ta 2015).

Demand:
The demand for laptop has risen remarkably since 2019, the first year of covid-19 outbreak,
because people now have to study and work from home and a laptop seems to be a wise
choice (Hai Phong 2020). For instant, CellphoneS representative, one of huge electronic
device retailers possess over 75 stores across Vietnam,-reported that sales in September 2021
higher than the previous month 50% and 300% compared to that time of 2020 (CellphoneS
2022; VietnamPlus 2021). The revenue-of laptop market-witnessed a down trend until 2018,
and in 2019 the upward trend show that the return begins to rise, and it is forecasted to reach
peek in 2021(figure 1) (Statista 2021).

Supply:
The supply for laptop shown a moderate decline in recent years. This is a consequence of
global supply chain-disruption, as one of the most important components of a chip which is
the heart of the laptop, is semiconductor also affected-by the pandemic and became shortage
(King, -Wu-& Pogkas 2021). Although a-huge amount of money was invested in new
capacity, the demand still outpaces supply (Wired 2021). In Vietnam, due to chip shortage
some laptop model has raise their price from 5-10% (Minh Hieu 2021).

Evaluation:
In general, the demand for laptop during covid-19 in Vietnam is much higher than the supply.
Due to the global-supply chain disruption which lead to the shortage in electronic
components and rise in price of a laptop. In specific, although the global-semiconductor
shortage only-witnessed a slight increase in 2021, the-revenue of laptop in 2021 was 314
million laptop, 15% higher than that of 2020 and, 27% compared to that of 2019 and show no
sign-of slowing down in 2022 (Hoang Linh 2022). Overall, this number is a clear
demonstration of the digital transformation that has been strongly promoted due to the
pandemic.

Prediction:
As discussed before, demand shifted dramatically to the right-between D0 and D1.
Additionally, -supplies reduced significantly-between S0 and S1, moving slightly to the left.
The intersection-of D1-and S1 generates a new equilibrium E1 and a new price P1 that are
higher than E0 and P0, -respectively, since quantity demand (QD) is significantly greater than
quantity supply (QS).
With the new raised-price, demand began to decline from Qd to Q1 as fewer individuals could
afford the higher price, while supply grew from Qs to Q1 as suppliers sought other sources of
goods. As a consequence, the market will rebalance.
