READING 4A (PG 51)


1. Look at the layout of the text and the pictures accompanying it and guess where
can you find this kind of text. Yes, in a Science Magazine!

2. Now, look at the title of the text and guess what type of column this is. Before that,
what is a column? Column has many different meanings but here it refers to a
regular section of a newspaper or magazine devoted to a particular subject or written
by a particular person. So, what type of column do you think it is? This is a question
and answer (Q&A) column where people have sent in questions about education-
related issues and have been provided with answers.

3. Next, read through questions 1-4 on the left of the text on page 51. As you can
see, each question is followed by the name of the person who posed the question as
well as his / her place of residence.

2. Next read the text below and identify future tenses used in it. How many can you
find?

Ms. Anu is a teacher. In April 2020, she will have completed 22 years working as
a teacher. She teaches Economics for the higher secondary students. By the time
she reaches school, students are already waiting for her. She will have spoken to
most of them before she takes her regular classes. Sadly, Ms. Anu will resign next
summer to move to Prague. She is also going to take up a new job as a guidance
counsellor there. Ms. Anu’s will miss her and her school is going to lose a good
teacher soon.
