Surface preparation
by Peter Szóga
The machining-phase
phase is often followed by a cleaning-phase.
phase. If cleaning is done in an ultrasonic washer,
then CRC 5-56 can be used prior
rior to the cleaning cycle to help the process.
Surface of the workpiece should be treated by CRC 5-56
5 thoroughly. (3)
When the workpiece then is placed into the ultrasonic washer, the film of CRC 5-56
56 virtually blows the
contamination off from the surface. Of course CRC 5-56 will also be removed and held in suspension in
the washer. (6)

Actual application is carried out on a regular basis as part of the production
production technology at Oerlikon
Metco's plant in Debrecen, Hungary. Workpieces are processed by means of electrical discharge
(spark) machining. Since disadvantage of EDM technology includes
• slow rate of material removal,
removal
• additional time and cost used for creating
cre g electrodes for ram/sinker EDM and
• high power consumption
energy, cost and time saving thanks to CRC 5-56
5 in the cleaning process can make up at least part of
the extra time and cost caused by above facts.
Note:
Above application can also be performed with CRC 3-36.
