1. Union Health Ministry of India set up the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) in 2020, to monitor
genome sequencing and variation of Covid strains.
INSACOG is jointly initiated by the Union Health Ministry, along with Department of Biotechnology, CSIR and ICMR.
2. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has released draft National Air Sports Policy (NASP)
3. The Government of India launched “Veer Gatha Project” as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Veer Gatha project
was launched to inspire the school children in India, by making them aware with stories of war heroes and brave
hearts.
4. UJALA (Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All) scheme completes 7 years
Note:
• UJALA is a zero-subsidy scheme launched by the Government in 2015.
• It is touted as the world’s largest domestic lighting project.
The scheme is implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry
of Power.
5. Ganjam district of Odisha has declared itself a child marriage free district, first in the State. Nirbhaya Kadhi
programme was started in Ganjam. The campaign was started with the objective of preventing adolescent girls
from dropping out of school, and counselling them.
6. Smart Cities Mission launches “Smart cities and Academia Towards Action & Research (SAAR)” program. A joint
initiative of MoHUA, National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and leading Indian academic institutions of the
country.

7. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries recently launched six one district one product (ODOP) brands under the
PMFME Scheme. PMFME is Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises.
8. Nationwide River Ranching Programme was recently launched in Uttar Pradesh.
• River ranching programme was introduced as special activity under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada
Yojana (PMMSY) scheme to augment and enhance fish production and productivity by expanding,
intensifying, diversifying and utilizing land & water productively.
• National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad is the nodal agency under central component of the
PMMSY.
9. Vision India@2047: The aim of the vision is to create an action plan. Under the plan, a road map will be created for
each sector. The vision follows “Whole of country” or “Whole of Government” approach.
10. Recently, the Union Education Minister launched National Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT) 3.0.

11. Ministry of Commerce is planning to launch “Brand India Campaign” in order to give momentum to exports of
services.
12. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP) 2.0, at the
International Conference of Academic Institutions (ICAI-2022)
13. Recently, the Vice President of India said that the New Education Policy follows the ‘Nai Talim’ of Mahatma Gandhi
by giving importance to the mother tongue as the medium of instruction at the school level.
• Mahatma Gandhi gave his scheme of Nai Talim (New Education) in a well-formulated approach to
education in 1937 in his newspaper ‘Harijan’.
14. Assam Mission on Malnutrition – Project Parvarish was launched in 2020 to eradicate malnutrition among children
in the age group of six months to five years. The project was recently awarded the SKOCH award for its socio-
economic approaches.
15. The National Competition of IndiaSkills 2021 has been organised by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)
under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The event included ‘Abilympics’, a Skill
Demonstration by Persons with Disabilities.
16. Telangana topped in the country in the highest number of open defecation free (ODF Plus) villages.
17. ‘Niramay’ Project Launched in Assam to evaluate the inclusion of Digital Health Technology in the health sector.

24. Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) launched the Swachhata Start-Up Challenge to encourage innovative
start-ups to transform the sanitation and waste management sector.
25. • Rythu Bandhu is a DBT scheme for farmers’ assistance of Telengana govt.
• Each farmer gets Rs 5,000 per acre per crop season without any ceiling on the number of acres held.
• The Telengana govt has often said that the Centre’s PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi)
scheme is a “copy” of Rythu Bandhu.
26. Recently, the Ministry of Education has launched a 100 days reading campaign 'Padhe Bharat' (1st January to 10th
April 2022).
• 21st February, celebrated as International Mother Tongue Day, has been integrated with this campaign
• The Campaign is in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

• It was formerly the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD).


• NICD was transformed into the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) with a larger mandate
of controlling emerging and re-emerging diseases in 2009.
• It is a national level institute for training specialized manpower for public health, laboratory sciences
and entomological services and is involved in various applied research activities.

9. What is ‘Aquamation’?
• The body of Nobel Peace Prize winner Desmond Tutu underwent aquamation in Cape Town.
• Aquamation is also called as alkaline hydrolysis, is a green alternative to traditional cremation
methods.
• Method: Dead body is immersed in a mixture of water, a strong alkali in pressurized metal
cylinder. It is then heated to about 150 degrees centigrade.
10. Researchers have recently found scientific evidence of a strong anti-cancer activity in the ethyl acetate fraction of
Halodule uninervis.
What is Halodule uninervis?
It is a species of sea-grass found in the coastal region near Rameswaram in southern Tamil Nadu. It evaluated the
activity of the species against various human cancer cell lines, including malignant melanoma, lung, cervix,
carcinoma and colorectal cancers.

2023, from 5.5% in 2021.
• It projects India’s annual growth to be 8.3% in the fiscal year 2021-2022, 8.7% in 2022-23, while
6.8% in 2023-24.

Japan and Singapore have been ranked 1st.
7. Oxfam has recently released its report on “Pandemic Billionaires”. Richest 1 per cent owned more wealth as
compared to poorest 90 per cent in Asia.
8. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) published its “Climate of India during 2021” Report.
As per the report, 2021 was the fifth warmest year in India since nation-wide records commenced in the country in
1901.

• Webb will go around it in a halo at a distance similar to that between the Earth and Moon
13. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully conducted the qualification test of the Cryogenic
Engine for the Gaganyaan programme for a duration of 720 seconds.
• The test was conducted at ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri in Tamil Nadu.
• This long-duration test is a major milestone for the three-crewed Human Space Programme
Gaganyaan.
• This engine will undergo four more tests for a cumulative duration of 1,810 seconds.
14. • ISRO recently conducted a successful test of its High Thrust VIKAS Engine at the ISRO Propulsion
Complex (IPRC) in Tamil Nadu’s Mahendragiri.
• The Vikas engine will power the ambitious Gaganyaan mission. It's a liquid fuelled rocket engine.
• It is used in PSLV and GSLV series.

As per DoT, the charges are calculated based on all revenues earned by a telco – including non-telecom related

15. Najafgarh Jheel is a transboundary wetland, in news. It is located along the borders of Delhi and Haryana.
Why in news: The Najafgarh lake is under the control of Delhi. The National Green Tribunal recently directed the

About the TX2 award:

populations of tigers in India.
• The awards are presented by the Conservation Assured Tiger Standards (CATS), Fauna and Flora
International (FFI), Global Tiger Forum (GTF), IUCN’s Integrated Tiger Habitat Conservation Programme
(ITHCP), Panthera, UNDP, The Lion’s Share, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and WWF.

19. Telineelapuram International Bird Sanctuary is located in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district. Recently, mass
deaths of migratory spot-billed pelicans happened at the Bird Sanctuary.
20. Red Sanders (Red Sandalwood) is a tree species endemic to the Eastern Ghats mountain range of South India.

• The tree (Pterocarpus santalinus) has recently classified back into the ‘endangered’ category in
the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) Red List.
