Know About Srinivasa Ramanujan

• Born on 22nd December, 1887 in Erode, Tamil Nadu and died on 26th April 1920 in
Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India.
• In 1913 he began a correspondence with the British mathematician Godfrey H.
Hardy.
• In 1918 he was elected to the Royal Society of London.
• Ramanujan was one of the youngest members of Britain’s Royal Society and the
first Indian to be elected a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge University.

to come up in Hanle, Ladakh, by the end of the

7. In News: Climate Change to aid Lassa Fever

• Context: Recently published study has found that climate change will aid the
spread of Lassa fever.
• It is a zoonotic disease endemic to parts of West Africa.
• Caused by the Lassa virus, (Arenaviridae family)-RNA virus, primarily found in
multimammate mice, native in west Africa.
• Concern: They are able to contaminate anything they come in contact with.

9. What is ‘Viral spillover risk’?

• Context: The effects of climate change are being witnessed across a range of
environments, can increase risk of “viral spillover” in some regions could cause
new pandemics over the next few years.
• Viruses are some of the most abundant entities on earth, but they need to infect a
host’s cell in order to replicate.
• It is found that the chances of a virus moving to a new host increase with runoff
from glacier melt.
• As temperatures increase, the melting of glaciers increases as well, and there is a
greater possibility for previously ice-trapped viruses and bacteria to find new
hosts.
• Viruses need to infect a host’s cell in order to replicate. According to the research,
these virus/host relationships seem relatively stable within superkingdoms, the
major groupings of organisms. However, below this rank, viruses may infect a new
host from a reservoir host (in which it usually resides) by being able to transmit
sustainably in a novel host – a process defined as ‘viral spillover’.

TB report.
• TB is the second deadliest infectious killer after Covid-19 which is caused by bacteria

• The amphibious tank is capable of crossing water obstacles and firing a gun while

Context: The seventh edition of maritime exercise IBSAMAR was organized from

October 10 to 12 in South Africa.
• Exercise IBSAMAR is a joint maritime exercise between South Africa, Brazil and India.
• The Indian Navy was represented by INS Tarkash, a Chetak helicopter and the Marine
Commando Force (MARCOS).
• Note: INS Tarkash is a Talwar class guided missile frigate built by Yantar shipyard in

17. KAMIKAZE DRONES
• Context: Iranian-made Kamikaze drones were deployed by Russia in the capital city
of Ukraine Kyiv.

• What are Kamikaze drones?

These are drones containing explosives that can be flown directly at targets such as a tank
or a group of troops that are destroyed when it explodes.

• How did Kamikaze originate?

The drones derive their name from the Kamikaze pilots of Japan during World War 2
primarily against the US.
These pilots conducted suicide attacks by intentionally crashing their planes filled with
explosives into enemy targets.

• Note: CBDCs are a digital form of a paper currency and unlike cryptocurrencies that
operate in a regulatory vacuum, these are legal tenders issued and backed by a
central bank.
• It is the same as a fiat currency and is exchangeable one-to-one with the fiat
currency.
• A fiat currency is a national currency that is not pegged to the price of a commodity
such as gold or silver.
• The digital fiat currency or CBDC can be transacted using wallets backed by

What is the difference between CBG and CNG?

• Chemically, CBG is the same as CNG — both are compressed methane — and has
the same calorific value.
• The difference is that while CNG is a by-product of petroleum, CBG can be
produced from any biomass.
• This makes CBG a commercially viable option as it can be directly used to replace
CNG in transportation fuel.
• Just like CNG, CBG too can be transported through cylinders or pipelines to retail
outlets.
• CBG is solid by-products can be used as bio-manure.

• Context: The Terai Elephant Reserve will be established in Dudhwa-Pilibhit in Uttar

• Context: Recently, the two Nord Stream gas


pipelines linking Russia and Europe have been
hit by unexplained leaks.
• This raised the geopolitical tension as Russia
cut gas supplies to Europe in suspected
retaliation against Western sanctions following
its invasion of Ukraine.
• About Nord Stream Pipeline: Nord Stream is
the 1,200 km subsea export gas pipeline that
runs under the Baltic Sea carrying gas from
Russia to Europe.
• Nord Stream route crosses the Exclusive
Economic Zones of Russia, Finland, Sweden,
Denmark and Germany, as well as the
territorial waters of Russia, Denmark, and
Germany.

Importance of the Pipeline:

• Germany is Russia’s biggest European gas consumer, and most of it comes through
the Nord Stream Pipeline.
• Russia gets more direct access to the European gas market.
• Sustainable Gas Supply to Europe.
