WHAT I KNOW

LESSON: Sharing ideas using opinion-marking Signals

Opinion is a belief, judgment, or a way of thinking about something.
Whenever you share ideas- you are sharing opinion. In this lesson, you will learn
how to identify opinions, using marking signals. You will also learn how to
express opinions using these signals.

WHAT’S NEW

In sharing and expressing our thoughts/opinions, we use phrases to properly

articulate and introduce them. We call them opinion-marking signals. There are
many ways to signal or mark your opinion, let us take a look at some of them:

According to me…. In my view…. In my opinion…. In my eyes….
It seems to me that…. From my perspective…. From my point of view….
From my view point…. As far as I’m concerned…. Personally, I think….
I’d like to point out that…. What I mean is…. Generally, it is thought that….
Some people say that…. Well, it is considered that….

• The opinion of majority/others (and superstitions) can be stated like “Some
people say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”.
