At first glance, you might say this list is twice as long as the list we published in the last issue. And
you'd be right. How can this after such a long and exhaustive overhaul of the Nu Chapter mailing list? We
have, after all, spent over 100 hours "cleaning" the list. We had a lot of help from fellow NuChapter Tekes, and we
got a recent print-out from National. We even made a bunch of telephone calls to verifY addresses, and mailings
over the past year yielded some corrected addresses courtesy of tJ.'1e Postal Service. We found out a lot in the
process, including the fact that over the years, lost Tekes were gradually dropped from the mailing list. Through
the print-out from National, along with our own efforts, we restored them. Many appear on the list below. We also
discovered a number of discrepancies in National's and will correct their list for them. The good news is that
we have located over half the lost Tekes from the list published 10 months ago. With your help, we'll find the rest.
If a mailing is returned to us with the notation that forwarding time has expired, that name is designed as
"lost." This is why some of the following names have been added. Also, we continue to carry as "lost," a Frater
who may be deceased unless we have been notified of that fact. We will appreciate knowing of those lost members
who have entered Chapter Eternal.
The following list is arranged according to graduation year. Those without graduation years are honarary
members. Just look a year or so before and after yOU were an undergraduate. Remember, most of these men are
not truly "lost." They know right where they are. So might you. If you do, please help by letting us know.

AN ATTRACTIVE WAY TO SAVE THE TEKE HOUSE

If you were saddened at the prospect of the sale of the Chapter House on Channing
Way, you will be happy to learn of your Housing Corporation's plans to restore it, a
part at a "lime, to its original beauty and prominence on campus. HoweveL this can
be done only with your help. Not only will it require a large amount of money, but
we must also meet some immediate needs in terms of roofing, window replacement
exterior security and cleanup. In the interim, we have made arrangements for
occupancy of the house by a caretaker, and a massive cleanup project is already
under way. But the big job still lies ahead.

Although it will be necessary to launch a major fundraising drive later on, our
immediate goal is to raise $50,000 through the sale of 20 notes in increments of
$2,500. Response so far has been very gratifying, as we have already sold nine units;
but we urgently need to sell the remainder by offering all Fraters the opportunity to
participate.

You may purchase one or more of these units which will be secured by a deed of
trust on the House. Since there are no existing encumbrances on the House, which at
current estimate is worth $600,000, this secured loan will be recorded as a first deed
of trust, upon the sale of all the notes. These notes earn interest at 10% paid
annually at the end of each year. All principal is due and payable in five years, but
may be retired earlier if the House is sold, or if we secure a first mortgage from a
lending institution.

We LJrge your participation. Questions on this offer may be directed to Will Deady at
(415) 383-1644, Tom Morgan at (510) 934-2747, or Chris Murray at (510) 521-6752.
