Learning Reference Sheet (LRS)

Lifestyle and Managing It

Lifestyle refers to an individual's manner of life. This covers things like

an individual's daily routine at home, school, or job, as well as eating,
sleeping, and exercise habits, among other things. These habits are linked to
increased or decreased health risks.
Teenagers like you, may engage in routines or habits at home or at
school that increase or decrease health risks. Do you spend a lot of your time
at home doing nothing but sitting? Do you get a lot of exercise by helping out
at home, such as cleaning? Are you a big fan of fruits and vegetables? Or are
you a junk food or fast food fanatic? You, as a teen, should be more mindful
of how your actions affect you and others.
Managing your lifestyle requires making changes to your daily routine,
particularly in those areas that increase your health risks. Food selection,
physical activity, and eating habits are all parts of your lifestyle that can be
improved. These changes should be made gradually, such as limiting fatty
food intake, getting up to reach for something rather than asking someone to
get it for you, or walking faster and more frequently. The concept is that if
you want to lower your health risks, you should adjust your lifestyle.
