Building a world-class team was my primary responsibility upon joining this dyna
mic, early-stage start-up offering Accounts Payable recovery services to Fortune
500 & Fortune 1000 clients. By working closely with the Vice President of Opera
tions and CFO, we collectively achieved record making levels of revenue quarter-
upon-quarter in a highly competitive environment. Responsibilities included mana
ging, motivating and inspiring a 20+ member team through significant change by a
ligning managers and auditors to common goals and the development a comprehensiv
e organizational plan including skill assessment, training, performance measurem

Responsible for $12 billion worldwide OEM/trade receivables portfolio, account c
onsolidations and development of consistent global policy and practice for credi
t and collections. Account reconciliation and analysis; journal entries;
statement notes; assisted with the monthly book close; plan, coordinate and exec
ute annual financial audits; assist in the compilation of information for annual
tax returns. Researched and developed A/R methodologies to mitigate potential

Introduced and launched a global Supply Chain "Cross Border" Financing initiativ
e to reduce Seagate's credit risk, while supporting and expanding the global dis

Additionally, developed and published a quarterly Worldwide Portfolio Review and
highly refined the existing Operational Metrics Review. Created and delivered

IBM GLOBAL FINANCING (IGF), Armonk, NY 2001 - 2006


Manager, Global Credit Methodology
As direct report to the Chief Credit Officer, I was responsible for providing su
pport, direction, credit information, and loan policies and procedures to ensure
the overall quality of the Bank's lending portfolio. Duties included calculati
ng the Allowance for Loan and Lease Loss Reserve (ALLL) and making recommendatio
ns to executive management and the Board of Directors for monthly allocations to
the Loan Loss Reserve. Additionally, I provided reviews and approves/declines
(delegation to $100M) for large and complex loans prior to submission to the Loa
n Committee.
Broad range of responsibilities included managing daily operations: participatin
g in several committees involved in the management of the Bank; direct superviso
ry duties of department staff; responsibility and accountability for adherence t
o Bank global directives, policies and procedures: subcontractor management; ven
dor negotiations and relations; strategy planning; project phase development; cu
stomer support and client satisfaction.
Additional responsibilities included:
* Continuously monitored and provided quarterly reports on $31 billion worldwide
leasing and commercial financing portfolio; analyzed IBM's largest and riskiest
worldwide leasing and commercial financing exposures; prepared specialized rese
arch reports on IGF's portfolio; analyzed key account financial statements and r
isk profiling assessments.
* Created, maintained and monitored credit scoring and auto decision models in 2
4 countries; was responsible for IT requirement writing, testing and deployment
support, including fraud prevention and fraud monitoring activities; worked with
the global team to validate current front-end models for increased credit limit
s and for the effectiveness of the exclusion rules.
* Developed and utilized dynamic financial and quantitative models and spreadshe
ets to produce forecasts using a proprietary software derived from SAS, analyzed
debt repayment capacities, performed credit analysis, Value At Risk analysis; a
nalyzed companies in multiple business segments; recommended hedging and trading
strategies for deteriorating credits within credit default swaps market; provid
ed recommendations to Portfolio Managers regarding buying and selling protection
s (credit derivatives).
* Reviewed accounting issues and projected financials to GAAP, SEC and SOX requi
rements as related to various corporate activities and initiatives in commercial
financing. Some requests to the Methodology team required additional research
into debt issuances, share buybacks, mergers, acquisitions and divestments.
* Monitored and inventoried International and Domestic Letters of Credit, parent
guarantees, credit insurance, credit swaps, warrants and options.
Selected achievements and demonstrated leadership:
* ON TARGET - Pioneered a project to streamline operations and drive the busines
s to instant credit review via automated credit scoring and automatic decision l
ogic. By using an existing IBM sales enablement application, a targeted communi
cations campaign was devised for the US and Canada in order to dramatically impr
ove linkage between IBM Corporate and IBM Global Financing, announce credit pre-
screening capabilities and achieve dramatic reductions in credit bureau reportin
g expense. The On Target project involved three divisions and 40 team members.
Anticipated savings over $700k annually.
* SUPPLIER REVIEW - Designed and launched global knowledge management collaborat
ion between IBM Corporation and IBM Global Financing. I worked closely with the
IBM Treasurer and the Vice President of Procurement and created a unique risk f
iltering, identification and mitigation process for IBM's key component supplier
s. The Supplier Review project bridged two divisions and included 10 team membe
rs. The team received praise and recognition from the Chief Procurement Officer
and the IGF CFO.
* CHAIN OF CUSTODY - Implemented a strategic set of IT and process improvement i
nitiatives that helped to resolve long-standing problems and streamline global b
usiness functions. The problem of incompatible and incongruent systems demanded
a sophisticated global technology plan that could identify tracking parameters,
specify requirements and be disseminated with authority. By leveraging key rela
tionships within IBM, IGF and a third-party provider, the project successfully e
nhanced client services.
