Introduction

Welcome to the Coloring book for two-way prepositions! I am very happy that
this coloring book has finally been completed. I feel certain that it will provide
pupils and docents with very good didactic relaxation while studying and
teaching German as a foreign language, and that the use of this practical
approach will convey more clarification to the confusion regarding two-way
prepositions.

With this coloring book

• Learners can deepen their understanding of prepositions and the
use of the correct case by coloring the illustrations
• Learners can test their vocabulary by labelling the illustrations
• Docents can copy individual illustrations for their study groups, and
it allows them to teach meaning and cases more easily through
coloring and, above all, with a lot of fun
• Docents can monitor the learning progress through comprehensive
testing.

The coloring book is thus an optimal addition to the preposition songs and the
study posters that are also included in the practise book Study German with
HU

Mnemonics. U

It makes me very happy to see that memory techniques are finally being used
in earnest for German lessons. Along with other developers of teaching and
study aids, I will certainly be able to provide many more mnemonics lesson
materials in future. The German-Study-Aid-Kit represents the first standard
work that makes it much easier to learn German.

But now let's get down to coloring our prepositions.

We have shown in the workbook that visualising cases (accusative and
dative) with colors can be a very helpful tool for learning them. This provides
us with a good orientation aid particularly when learning two-way prepositions.
We had determined that it makes sense to mark the accusative case in blue
and the dative case in red. Whether a two-way preposition uses the

accusative or the dative case depends on whether it expresses a movement

(action) or rest (position) in the respective context. You can read from page 64
of the workbook on how easy it is to learn this rule. You will also find
mnemonic illustrations of the nine most important two-way prepositions in
their corresponding color. For all these prepositions, colored A4-study posters
are provided in the study posters package that is included in this super study
package. Here is an example of how the case colors red and blue illustrate
the varying use of two-way prepositions.

For an additional exercise, you can now color the illustrations for the two-way
prepositions yourself, or have it colored by your pupils. If an action takes
place, please color the character blue, if a position is shown, please color the
character red.
