here q1 > q2

so, q3 must be placed close to q2 and on -x

axis.

let x is the distance from origin where q3 is supposed

to place.

7th Edition 1st Edition 1st Edition
k*q2*q3/x^2 = k*q1*q3/(1+x)^2
View all solutions
(1+x)^2/x^2 = q1/q2

(1/x)/x = sqrt(10/2)

1+x = 2.236*x

1 = 1.236*x

==> x = 1/1.236

= 0.809 m

so, at x = -0.809 m, q3 should be placed.
