Executive Summary

The team had some difficulties while constructing the visualization in Tableau because it is
not a platform that can be shared, as well as the time restrictions. In addition, a more in-
depth analysis of the project's limitations is conducted. To sum it up, it was a pleasure to
work with this group; the job was evenly distributed across the members, resulting in
dashboards that are comprehensive, informative, and interactive, just how they should be.
Tableau generated four graphs to better understand their audience. Finally, the project's
limitations, such as the dashboard, team development, and data availability, are discussed.
Our client's receipts data has been thoroughly examined and evaluated in this document.
It's a look at the company's current discoveries and a look at how things get done around
here. Analytical methods include examining current Facebook marketing trends and levels
of interaction. There are appendices at the end of the paper that include a Tableau
dashboard, which we utilized to perform our research. Based on our findings, we've come
up with some tips for how to get more people interested in the project again. There are a
few caveats to this study, which is why we've included them in the table of contents. For us,
we believe that our staff has put in the time and effort to gather the essential information
and develop conclusions for the customer.

Reflection on team effort
The purpose of this portion of the report is to show how the team came together to create a
dashboard. The assignment assigned to the group was to play the role of a firm evaluating a
new data analysis project (Belbin, 2010). A visual analytics software called Tableau was used
to examine various business or marketing data that had been captured in a spreadsheet
format. Rather than sending back and forth spreadsheet emails, executives need a more
efficient reporting procedure. Tableau will be used by the entire team to present data
visualization that was constructed utilizing datasets selected from a variety of spreadsheets
and imported into Tableau. The dataset has certain limitations. Instead of receiving more
information or instructions from management, the team will have to deal with this situation
on its own. Due to its specificity, the learning goals are both practical and motivating for
everyone involved. They are also motivated to conduct research and analysis in order to
create helpful dashboards. When it comes to successful cooperation, interpersonal styles
are more important than credentials or experience. The need of defining responsibilities for
teams, and the importance of having strong communication in a team to work successfully.
Despite the fact that we worked as a team, no one had a specific position, and everyone was
just as vital as the next. Some scholars believe that for a team to be successful, a leader is
required; however, no one had to take the reins and serve in that capacity. All the members
had a forthright demeanor, yet they were also remarkably tolerant of one another.

Introduction & Background of the data and dashboard

Tableau is a US-based computer software business that has won multiple honors in the
industry previously. It is used for data exploration, analysis, and visualization. Their goal is to
"help people comprehend data" by making it more accessible. Big data is becoming
increasingly difficult for humans to process, thus software and artificial intelligence (AI)
techniques are being used to make it easier for people to interpret and display the
information. Each member was given the duty of creating a visualization with the data in the
file, thus for a week, each member was investigating Tableau's sophisticated visualization
tools. Because we were aiming for a mix of creativity and professionalism, we concentrated
on a wide range of aspects and gathered as much information as possible. There wasn't an

3
unlimited range of values in the continuous data graphic that was designed (Tableau, 2021).
It was then easy to mix multiple files in Tableau and utilize them to produce the final image.
Visualizations had to be uploaded one at a time to the dashboard, which made it the second
most time-consuming operation. As a result of the fact that Tableau is not sharable, each
member of the team had to rebuild the visualization into the same page one at a time.

As a market research organization, Numerator aims to revolutionize the industry by

providing first-party data from consumers. Numerator helps businesses gain a better
understanding of their consumers and discover new development prospects. We open up
additional growth by giving you a better view of more customers across more channels. For
a market that has been sluggish to adapt, we combine proprietary data, including a digital
panel of over one million US consumers, with cutting-edge technology to produce unique
insights.

In the beginning, I'd want to introduce the company and then discuss the data. The market
research sector is being reimagined by Numerator, a data and technology startup that uses
data collected directly from consumers. Using Numerator, businesses may gain a better
understanding of their clients and discover new areas for expansion. Having access to more
customers through more channels unlocks even more growth opportunities (Buyya, 2016).

Numerator's Panel Transcription division, for example, transcribes scanned and electronic
receipts from a variety of consumer items into a single data set. They may use these
datasets to simplify the data ecosystem and conduct more in-depth analysis for commercial
purposes. Basically, the raw dataset reflects the overall panel members' information and the
receipts of commerce done by Numerator, which we've selected from the juggernaut data.
Additionally, we are attempting to show the number of lines a single team member
completes in a single day by purifying and arranging the data. The data set based on a
Production basis additionally reflects which individual has performed the task with more
precision than the rest. We're also reflecting. According to our hypothesis, this will assist the
organization in anticipating more workforce needs for the company in order to boost the
collection of additional consumer data for market research.

Columns containing URL links, symbols, coordinates, country codes, and status IDs were
removed in our initial round of data cleansing. During subsequent rounds of cleaning, we

4
worked in smaller groups or individually to add new information and organize the existing
data. We then renamed the columns. A cleaner, more organized Excel file resulted from the
seven rounds of data division and cleaning that went into it. Before uploading the data to
Tableau, visualization and dashboarding application that combines automation,
augmentation, and AI capabilities, it is necessary and critical to reformat and clean the data,
as both crucial and essential. As the "grandfather of enterprise data visualization tools," it
has been dubbed "the best" (Bhaskar, 2021). In order to avoid generating similar tables and
graphs, each member of the team generated their own visualizations and communicated
this information to the rest of the team via our WhatsApp group.

Key findings of the dashboard
A simple receipt will provide you with the essential information outlined above. Information
on how much a customer paid, where it was purchased and whether or not a discount
coupon was used can be included in the receipt. It is critical, however, that this information
be thoroughly analyzed so that new insights may be gleaned. You can find out how many
receipts were generated per store, whether it was a real store or an online one, as well as
how many additional things your customers purchased on the same shopping excursion. It
may also provide you with a breakdown of receipts by day, location, or which merchants are
participating in the most brand programs. Lastly, it may provide you with a thorough basket
analysis of each customer's shopping experience, which can reveal what things they are
purchasing, how often they return to the same businesses, and whether they prefer to
browse elsewhere after making an initial purchase.

Analytics provided by receipt data are used by retailers and consumers alike to improve
store performance. As a matter of fact, they may utilize this data to keep track of sales and,
significantly, compare their firm to their competitors. Their clients' spending patterns and
marketing efforts are also tracked using this data. This data is used for high profit margins
and to improve the efficiency of their company's operations. There are several benefits to
using a high-quality receipt dataset. Having complete and up-to-date information on your
company's performance, including the most recent statistics, is critical. A high-quality
dataset will also include historical receipt data, which can be used to track changes in
purchasing patterns and customer spending habits over time. If you want to see how your
store is doing over time, you need this data.

Brands and manufacturers are working hard to capture the wealth of data contained in
receipts as a result of technological advancements. Customers' purchase histories from
retail outlets may be used by brands to develop an accurate 360-degree snapshot of their
consumer base. In this way, they are able to execute more complete marketing programs
that develop client loyalty across all of their many consumer touchpoints online and offline.
Consumers must be able to easily accrue points for purchases in order to keep them coming
back. Brands and manufacturers may take advantage of a variety of incentive possibilities
thanks to rapid receipt processing. Incentives based on level of purchase, include free items

6
or samples, entry into sweepstakes, an extended warranty, and more Get rewards and
product discounts by scanning your receipts (McKown, 2021). Brands and manufacturers
can't get the data they need to establish a complete loyalty program since they don't have a
direct line to smaller merchants. Using a simple receipt, you may capture a huge amount of
useful information that can be tracked in real-time. For companies without a direct
connection to their point of sale, receipts serve as evidence of purchase and serve as a
strong link in precision marketing. Companies and manufacturers may get a lot of benefits
by scanning receipts. With this information, they may target their most loyal consumers
with special offers and gimmicks that they will find appealing.

Getting to know your clients - Understanding the demands of your clients is critical to
building an effective rewards program. Answering the following questions will be helpful:
Who are your customers? How much are they purchasing? Do you know where they're
purchasing their goods? How often do they buy? What else do they have in their shopping
cart?

The following are some of the advantages of segmenting and targeting your clients:

Segmentation: It helps brands respond to the individual demands of customers. Machine

learning may be used to create behavioral clusters based on expenditure, location,
frequency, and other factors. Specialized campaigns are an effective way to target certain
groups of customers.

Build long-lasting relationships with consumers — Customers are more likely to return when
there is a strong emotional connection between the company and its customers. These links
can be made by brands and manufacturers: Creating an emotional connection may be done
in a variety of ways, including via the use of unique events, letters from the CEO, limited
edition items, and other forms of surprise and joy (Briddle, 2018).

Keep in touch with your clients – A thorough understanding of consumer behavior and data
is required to build a solid customer relationship. What's the point of this? Using this
method, you are able to communicate directly with your consumers. An option to cross-sell
or up-sell is provided. Improve the management of consumer data Companies may benefit
from a better understanding of their customers' needs via the use of effective data

7
collecting. With the help of new customer loyalty programs, it's becoming easier than ever
to sort through consumer information.

There has been a significant increase in the number of people participating in the receipt
scanning incentive program. In the right hands, this may be a powerful weapon in the battle
for consumer loyalty. To properly leverage retail loyalty programs, marketers and
manufacturers need to provide customers the ability to scan and send in their purchase
receipts. To attract, keep, and expand consumers, brands and manufacturers must rethink
their loyalty programs (Provost, 2013). For many firms, the shifting retail landscape and new
buying channels such as e-commerce and marketplaces are driving them to reconsider their
customer loyalty programs.

From the finding, we can see that the receipts have almost come very close to the
production value except in the case of Ritu, Simran, and Hiren. This means that whatever
marketing strategy applied here is working clearly and by using more rewards we could clear
all the surplus that is available. The receipts sales have been consistent throughout the year
and which is good, it means we don’t have to spend much on customer retention.
Customers are preferring the organization and the service they are providing.

Figure 2 states the performance improvement pie chart and how the top 3 improving
performers: Sunny, Luv, and Rinku have improved their scanned receipts months after
months using customer retention, marketing, reward programs, and by knowing and
targeting the organization’s known customer base.

Figure 2: Performance improvement plan of top 3 improving students

The students have tackled nicely to manage their production and receipts despite the
sinking economy. The figure shows the top 3 producing candidates: Shivan, Jatin, and Preeti.
Even in a period of declining sales they managed to somehow up their production and
increase capacity if their plants and inventory so they can focus on the sales.

Figure 3: The highest average producing candidates.

9
We could see that the production rates in the month of October start to rise and is high
throughout the season. The high production rates help tackle the demands of the customers
and its start to decline in the month of February.

Limitations of the dashboard

Although the report does have certain limitations, such as team building and data
availability as well as the dashboard, this cannot be denied. First and foremost, the problem
sprang from a lack of teamwork. A lack of participation from most members of the team
contributed to the uneven distribution of tasks. Furthermore, all group activities are carried
out via internet channels rather than through direct discussion and collaboration. Because
of this, the team's output has also been restricted. Secondly, there is a lack of information
(Simon, 2017).

There are both advantages and disadvantages to using data analysis to uncover new
insights. When working with large datasets, it is expected that there would be certain
limitations. The inadequate data that was supplied to us at the outset proved to be a
difficult observation to make. When there was a dearth of information, it was difficult to
recommend and advise our customers. Sending out the main survey to users and asking
them to identify themselves might be a solution to Data support and amplifies the abilities

10
of people in a business to make well-informed decisions and actions, but should not be the
main driver for these decisions. Our goal was to offer our customers market insights and
information so that they could make better business decisions based on our findings, but we
also had to be mindful of the limits mentioned earlier.

The group was unable to produce a more accurate answer because of several database
constraints. There was a lot of missing data in several fields, so the group had to fill it
manually. Although it was intended to be as precise as possible, the database may have
been erroneous due to the data being manually entered. As a result, any conclusions or
findings derived from the analysis would be of little utility. Additional data, such as user
feedback, follower feedback, etc., should be gathered in order to determine the root reason
for these findings. A higher volume of data would yield more precise results.

When using Tableau to create the final dashboards, the team ran into a few roadblocks.
Initially, the visualization tool was not sharable, which meant that a group could not
simultaneously utilize the tool, which was a significant time-sucker. Tableau also has the
flaw of automatically translating various features to the user's laptop language and altering
the visualizations even if it was installed in English and the laptop has another language.
Additionally, the study was constrained by time constraints, which meant that further
analysis was feasible but would require more time. There are certain limits to the data as
well (Loth, 2019). To begin, although there was a large amount of data accessible from
Exploratory, much of it was not useable. In addition, only English-language comments were
collected for analysis, which decreased the amount of evidence. It was also required to
collect seven days' worth of Twitter data in that collection, which altered the final results
because it might have been explored in greater depth if there was a longer timeframe to
compare.

Recommendations

Primary data collecting can be expensive, but the importance of the original data and the
insights obtained throughout the collection process make the approaches described above
unquestionably necessary. There are secondary sources of information that you might use
before you begin gathering the main data. Be certain that there is no alternative source of
information before collecting primary data. Nevertheless, the process does not end with the

11
collection of data. This information must be analyzed and put into context. And visualizing
your data is the greatest method to comprehend it. Secondly, the communication between
the group felt a little weak and we could have produced a
