ADORABLE BS-CRIMINOLOGY 4
Overall experience for this semester's Practicum 1 in the time of the pandemic.
Hard times give us the opportunity to expand our appreciation of those who
help, support and contribute in large and small ways. The pandemic caused many of
our lives to become smaller. Instead of going out, we’ve done everything in our desk
for the whole day at home to attend to our online classes. But this reduced radius can
have the positive effect of focusing us on the little things – the vital few things and the
need for gratitude. The pandemic has caused us to slow down and be more mindful.
Reducing all kinds of activities has provided the opportunity to get off the hamster
wheel and be more focused. This pace can be an opportunity for greater reflection
and an intentional look at our priorities, aspirations and activities.
I can say that in this semester, we’ve already adapted, we’ve learned and built
our resilience. Of course, we must also grieve for what could have been done if this
pandemic didn’t happened and how much we’ve given up all those things and trust it
in the hands of our Almighty father. I realize that grieving for it was essential but we
shouldn’t be stuck of those what could have been. The next semester is around the
corner and as we look toward a brighter 2 nd semester, we can embrace the lessons of
the 1st semester as a source of growth and opportunity. We should see the silver
lining of every situation. For we have deepen our connections, learning who is most
supportive of us, knowing who really reaches out in this new normal. We already
clarified our priorities, developing our understanding of what really matters to us and
what doesn’t. We discovered our own capabilities, understanding how much we can
endure and how resilient we are in the face of difficulty.
In this times of uncertainty and volatility there are times when we need to
pause or pull back, this might also be a good thing to avoid pandemic paralysis and
keep us moving forward. This should be a reminder that whatever we are feeling right
now, god or bad – it is part of becoming the better version of ourselves. It is part of
the process. When you keep moving forward, you’ll continue to learn and grow - and
invest in the happiness of your future self
