Ms. Boudreau’s Classroom

April 2022

This week we are starting to build background about Prairies and Prairie
animals to prepare for our adventures in the Wild West with Jack and Annie in
Ghost Town At Sundown. The students love learning about cowboys,
cowgirls, horses, and so much more! We have some fun projects and
activities planned for this theme. We also have some fun spring crafts and an
egg hunt planned!

SPOTLIGHT ACTIVITY:

Vocabulary is taught across the curriculum! Each Magic Tree House book
highlights rich vocabulary based on the engaging themes. Students
demonstrate their knowledge of the vocabulary taught through their
discussions and written messages.

READING GROUPS:

In their individualized reading lesson, students are continuing to improve

their reading skills. Reading “levels” are assessed frequently to ensure each
student is being provided with instruction and books appropriate to their
academic level. Please continue to have your child read out loud every night
to ensure fluency! Please continue to go on Razkids weekly to read leveled
books assigned to your child. If you need the information again on how to
access the site, please let me know.

MATH:

In Math, we continue to work on learning our addition and subtraction facts

within 10. We practice multiple strategies for solving number sentences. We
work on creating and solving number stories! We continue to practice
counting by 5’s and 10’s.

IDEAS FOR HOME:

Practice simple “word problems” in context at home.

For example) While serving lunch, you might say, “If I give you 4 chicken
nuggets and you ask for 1 more, how many will you have?” as you put the
food on your child’s plate.
