I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of: South and West Asian
literature as an expression of philosophical and religious beliefs;
information flow in various text types; reality, fantasy, and opinion
in listening and viewing materials; word decoding strategies; and
use of information sources, active/passive constructions,
direct/reported speech, perfect tenses, and logical connectors in
journalistic writing.
B. Performance Standard The learner transfers learning by composing a variety of
journalistic texts, the contents of which may be used in composing
and delivering a memorized oral speech featuring use of properly
acknowledged information sources, grammatical signals for
opinion-making, persuasion, and emphasis, and appropriate
prosodic features, stance and behavior

IV. PROCEDURES
“Video Trip!”
A. Reviewing previous The teacher will play a video of the assigned selection, The Vanity
lesson or presenting new of the Rat. They will watch and analyze the video.

“Word FactoRAT!”
The teacher will post sentences using unfamiliar words taken from
the fable, The Vanity of the Rat. The students will choose their
answer from the 2D rat hole.
B. Establishing a purpose for
the lesson
“Arrange me!”
C. Presenting The teacher posted pictures showing different scenes happened in
examples/instances of the the story. These are jumbled scenes from which the students are
new lesson tasked to arrange according to sequence of events in the story.
“Reveal yourself!”
D. Discussing new concepts The pictures on the first activity have hidden strips of papers
and practicing new skills containing lines mentioned by characters. The students will then
#1 reveal and analyze to infer traits of each character in the story.
They will choose their answer on the Tree of traits.
“Let’s get this over with!”
E. Discussing new concepts The class will be grouped into 4. They will be having a draw lots
and practicing new skills for the distribution of tasks written in the task cards. They will
#2 only be given 5 minutes to do the task and 2 minutes for their
presentation.
They will also be guided with the following criteria.
