Feminism as a literay device supports feminist goals of defining women’s social rights. It is a way of valuing
women’s expressions and point of views in life. According to (Hughes), women tend to be physically
weaker than men, but they are morally stronger than them. Women are considered to stay at home
because of their moral influence that can be passed on to their children. Women are also responsible for
the household chores. Meanwhile, men would usually go at work and earn for the family. In the story the
Yellow Wallpaper, it is shown in the story the dominance of man. The husband decides whatever he wants
to his family. It is also shown that he is the one earning for the family, while the narrator is staying at
home. Based on the article of Hughes, the Yellow Wallpaper story portraits that women are more
emotional compared to men. As women have the edge morally, they tend to be emotionally weaker. Men
on the other hand shows little to no emotions.

Nowadays, gender stereotyping is neglected. Whether you are a man or woman, both can be reponsible
for the household chores namely cooking, washing the dishes, cleaning the house, and etc. These are
considered life skills and should be learnt by everyone. Also, a man or a woman can also be the one earning
for the family, or they can both earn for the family. It is proven nowadays that women can match men on
physicality. What a man can do can also be done by a woman.
