• You conduct a phenomenological study of teenage students
from a public school system. You conduct an in-depth
interview with a teenager to whom you have promised
confidentiality. She started to tell you about how her
stepfather was getting too friendly with her and had touched
her in those “special places.” She tells you she is depressed
and plans to commit Suicide. You believe she means it. Can
you break your promise? If so, who do you tell?
