ILO (International labor organization) imposes some strict obligations upon workers which are working
in large workplaces. In this context, ILO Convention C-155 (article-19) and ILO Recommendation R-164
(Article-16) are prominent. Here are some clauses of above-mentioned conventions and
Recommendation, which are contravened according to the scenario:

Comments on breaching of ILO Convention C-155 (article-19)

 There were signs displayed at the showroom about no use of mobile phone during driving in the
parking area and test drive area, but according to scenario, the apprentice was breaching the
law of organization which was clearly conveyed in the form of signs. (Clause-a)
 Sales supervisor, according to scenario, did not gave information about the accident happened
to apprentice to the upper management. (Clause-c)
 Apprentice was not provided with proper trainings about safe drive which should be provided
through competent persons (clause-d)
 According to the scenario, when young apprentice fell from car listening to the phone call on
mobile, he did not report that incident to his immediate supervisor, while according to the
clause-f of Conventions C-155 (Article-19), he had the responsibility to inform about near miss or
incident immediately to the upper management.

Comments on breaching of ILO Recommendation R-164 (Article-16)

 The worker or employee shout take care of himself doing safe work practice, but he did not take
care of himself while listening to call during driving (clause-a)
 As per scenario, safety signs about prohibition of using cell phones during were displayed, but
he did not care about the instructions given about hazards (clause-b)
 While he got slipped and fell upon concrete hard standing, he just got up quietly and did not
report about the accident he was encountered to his supervisor. According to the obligations
imposed by international labor law making agencies, worker has responsibility to report any
unsafe act or condition he or his fellows witnessed in the workplace (clause-d & e)
