seahorses are strange looking sea creatures with heads like horses.

They are actually


fish. seahorse is the name given to 54 species of small marine fishes in the genus
Hippocampus. "Hippocampus" comes from the Ancient Greek hippos meaning "horse"
and kampos meaning "sea monster". Having a head and neck suggestive of a horse,
seahorses also feature segmented bony armour, an upright posture and a curled prehensile
tail.

Seahorses are mainly find in shallow tropical and temperate waters throughout the
world, and live in sheltered areas such as seagrass beds, estuaries, coral reefs, and mangroves.
Four species are found in Pacific waters from North America to South America.

Seahorses range in size from 1.5 to 35.5 cm (0.6 to 14.0 in). They are named for their
equine appearance. Although they are bony fish, they do not have scales, but rather thin skin
stretched over a series of bony plates, which are arranged in rings throughout their bodies.
Seahorses swim upright.

Seahorses swim very poorly. Although included in the types of fish, sea horses swim way

The male has a large pouch and a slit-like opening at the bottom of her stomach.
The female will lay her eggs directly into the stomach pouch and the male fertilizes the egg
when dropped. Females put 150 to 200 eggs in the pouch.Lining inside the pouch becomes
like a sponge and filled with blood vessels, which serves to feed the eggs or embryos. Pouch

The eggs will flow through the tube into the bag of seeds and then they will be fertilized.
