Observation
Most candidates were able to:

- List three safety wears that should be worn on site;


- Sketch a jointer and a wooden hawk.

However, few candidates were unable to state the three preliminary sites operations.

The expected response to question 1 is as given below:

1. (a) Safety wears that should be worn on site:


hand gloves;
safety belt;
safety rubber boots/gum boots;
gas mask;
nose respirator/muffler;
helmet;
goggle/ visor;
overall/ close-fitting uniform;
respirator;
ear pad.

(b) Preliminary site operations prior to setting-out a building:


site investigation;
soil investigation;
site clearance;
site leveling;
provision of access road;
provision of plant, machinery and equipment;
provision of medical facilities i.e first aid box;
provision of services/ utilities such as water and electricity;
site security, i.e erection of fences and stores, hutment, hoarding etc;
topsoil excavation.
