All Bishop students, families, and teachers/staff are invited to participate in a Cultural
Festival hosted by the Bishop Diversity and Inclusion Group (DIG) on Sunday April 10, 2022
from 2-4 p.m at the Bishop School. This free event will showcase over 20 different tables
representing some of the amazing cultures in our Bishop community. There will also be food
from over 15 different cultures to sample in the cafeteria. Finally, there will be live
entertainment from students and adults, as well as music, dancing, and craft activities. We
are still looking for adults and high school students to volunteer: anyone interested can
reach out to Rebecca Bell at rbell@arlington.k12.ma.us. Thank you so much and we look
forward to seeing you this Sunday!
News from the Bishop Library
We hope everyone is enjoying the (changeable) spring weather!
In the Library, we have challenged ourselves, as a school, to READ ACROSS AMERICA, or in
other words, to try and make reading connections to each of the states, and to as many
native territories as we can, before the end of the school year. There are many ways to make
a connection to a state or territory e.g. reading in it, reading about it, reading a book that is
set there, or reading a book by an author who has lived there. Audiobooks and readalouds
are all accepted in our tally. We encourage everyone to take note of any connections that
they can make with their reading, and to let us know, or ask us for suggestions, when they
come to the Library.
There is more information about this on our website. We are grateful to the AEF for funding
to enrich our collection with updated materials on the states, tribal nations and books with
indigenous protagonists, and by indigenous authors.
Have a wonderful April vacation!

Grades 3, 4, and 5 MCAS administration has begun and will run through
May. Families with students in the identified grades can access this year’s MCAS
schedule HERE
All grades have a morning snack recess. Please send a healthy snack to school with your
child that they can eat outside. If your child requires an additional snack during the day,
please be sure to pack that for them as well.
All children should have a spare change of clothes at school, just in case!

Greg Wright Spring Clean Up Day - Sunday, May 1st from 9AM to 12PM
Please join us for our annual Greg Wright Spring Clean Up Day to keep Bishop looking
beautiful! Sign up here, or just show up on the 1st! While signing up helps us plan, it’s not
necessary. If you have gloves or tools, please bring those with you. We will provide extra
for those who do not. Mr. Wright was a much-loved fixture at Bishop who passed away in
2017. He was a jovial spirit who cared for the building and grounds as he would his own
home.
Plans for the day include:
• Grounds clean up and trash pick up
• Cleaning all beds and edging as much as possible
• Pollinator garden weeding
Please email Amanda Maltais aemaltais@gmail.com or Alex Rehm
Alex.Rehm@gmail.com with any questions.
