Shri T P Singh is an officer of Indian Railway Mechanical Engineering
Service of 1980 batch.

Shri T P Singh has done graduation in Mechanical Engineering from


Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering–Jamalpur and
MBA with operations as speciality from Management Development Institute-
Gurgaon.

He has undertaken training at Electro Motive Diesel (EMD) in LaGrange,


Chicago, United States for manufacturing of crankcase of EMD diesel
locomotives. He was also nominated for Advanced Leadership Programme in
Strategic Management Course in Tepper School of Management Carnegie
Mellon University, Pittsburgh, United States.

Shri T P Singh is seasoned professional with more than 35 years rich


experience in Operation Management, Production Planning and Control,
Maintenance Operations, Product Engineering, Plant Operations, Industrial
Engineering, Project Management and Personnel Management.

Before taking over as the General Manager, North Western Railway, he


was working as Additional General Manager, East Central Railway, Hazipur. In
his distinguished career with the Railways, he has held many key posts such as:
Sr. Dy. General Manager- Central Railway, Chief Rolling Stock Engineer-North
Western Railway, Divisional Railway Manager-Guntakal (Southern Central
Railway), Additional Divisional Railway Manager-Firozpur (Northern Railway),
Chief Works Engineer-Rail Coach Factory (Kapurthala), Chief Project Manager-
Rail Coach Factory (Kapurthala), Chief Personnel Officer-Rail Coach Factory
(Kapurthala), Chief Works Manager, Northern Railway Mechanical Workshop,
Amritsar.

Shri T.P.Singh has in his discharge of duties in various capacities always


focussed on innovations and greater use of technology.

In his tenure as DRM-Guntakal he worked for implementing 5S in


divisional head quarters resulting in saving of space and weeding out old
redundant records, improving systems of working, standardising the processes
and record keeping. He had pioneered installing the Computerised Record
Management System for facilitating retrieval of any record within 30 seconds.

He played a pivotal role in effecting over 50 technological upgradations


in WDM2 diesel locomotives of Indian Railways in co-ordination with RDSO. He
has also been instrumental in implementing projects of setting up of Diesel
Loco shed at Alambagh, Electric Loco POH facilities at Charbagh, Lucknow and
conversion of MG Diesel Shed into BG Diesel Shed at BGKT, Jodhpur.
Shri T P Singh steered the prototype and series manufacture of 3 new
types of railway wagons at the Mechanical Workshop in Amritsar and he
piloted the project for developing the facilities for manufacture of stainless
steel wagons and manufactured prototype stainless steel wagon. He also
piloted development of the facilities for manufacturing of Air suspension bogie
for EMU rolling stock of Indian Railways.

He has done commendable work in the field of Human Resources like


improving the transparency in dealing with personnel matters of about 14000
staff by uploading all staff transactions on the official website, implementation
of checklists for carrying out various tasks in personnel management pivotal in
maintaining amicable employee relations & Implementation of monitoring
mechanism of all HR functions.

He also pioneered the rich heritage of Indian Railways – maintenance


and rebuilding of Heritage Steam Locomotives including-

 Rebuilding and installing the 100 year old Steam Locomotive KC520
running on Kalka-Shimla NG line.

 Rebuilding Patiala State Mono Rail Steam Locomotive and Coach for
National Rail Museum.

 Rebuilding 60 year old Steam Toy Locomotive of Bal Bhavan, New Delhi.

He also played a lead role in commissioning a museum of heritage and


history of manufacturing and maintenance activities at Mechanical Workshop
Amritsar.
