HD Face Making Tutorial

Here is HD Face Making Tutorial for Cricket 07. The Tutorial is divided into two parts. First Part is Face Making and
second is Hair Making.

PART 1
Tools Required
1-Facegen Modeler
2-Any OBJ to 3DS converter (Which Keeps the vertex count same. I will be using Sycode Mesh Converter and FBX Converter
(Coz of batch conversion))
3-Ofile Worker 3
4-Oedit
5-Adobe Photoshop

Files Required
1- Cricket 07 Model for Facegen
2- Basic O Model (This one will not be used in the face, the models from the part 2 of tutorial will be used).

Steps
1- Download Cricket 07 Model for Facegen from the link given below

2- Copy the Cricket 07 Model for Facegen “csamc07face” folder according to instruction given below

To migrate your custom model sets from a previous version of FaceGen Modeller, copy them into the following folder:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\FaceGen\Modeller3\ModelSets\
Vista & 7: C:\Users\USERNAME\appData\Roaming\FaceGen\Modeller3\ModelSets\

3- Change model set to “c07face” and follow the link for photofit example.

I will be using a face that will help also in hair making. Here is the reference picture.
Click Photofit tab

Click Next

Click Load select picture then click next


Assign the point roughly

Adjust the point as shown in the picture

Wait for the software to process the face. Now you see the facegen preview.
4- Once done export your face to Wavefront OBJ, select BMP for texture, set rotation for x-axis to 90.0 and don’t change
anything else.

5-Then first convert obj to fbx and fbx to dxf using fbx converter.

In fbx to dxf untick triangulate.


6- Then convert dxf to 3ds using sycode mesh converter.

Note: for the above two step and the rotation part in export, you can use any other tool, software or converters that keep the
vertex count same and keep the rotation same after conversion.

7- Download Ofile Worker 3 and Basic O model from the link below

8- Open the Basic O Model in Ofile Worker 3, click the 3ds import tab, open converted 3ds in it, click the head part of face and
then click write vertex and saved it in desired name for convenience. I saved as “Gayle.o”
9- Download Oedit from the link below and preview your face.

10- Now modeling is done. Now its time to refine the texture.
This is facegen generated texture.

This is cricket 07 original texture.


11- After adjusting colors, correcting ears, refining cheeks, bolding beard and adding hair this is the texture I get.
These are the different level of texture.

12- The preview of that texture in Oedit is this

13- Comparing faces with each another. Facegen preview, Oedit preview, cricketer real face and refined texture preview
