Technical Specification

OF
LT MCC FOR ST#2 ECO DEASHING MOTOR

1.LT MCC panel shall be suitable for floor mounting, free standing, draw-
out type, Compartmentalized, single front, powder coated with gray colour
and suitable for 50 KA short circuit level dust proof and vermin proof with
IP 54 protection as per IS 2147. The MCC specified herein otherwise stated
shall conform to the relevant and latest revisions of Indian standards and
Indian Electricity rules. (CODES AND STANDARDS IEC: 60947, IS: 13947, IEC:
60439, IS: 8623, IEC: 61850)

2.1000A LT SWITCHGEAR with Incoming breaker & draw out type module as per
details given below:
a) Incomer, 1000A rated ACB 1 No.
b) 90 KW draw out outgoing motor Feeder 3 Nos.
c) 250A draw out SFU (E type module) 2 Nos.
d) 63A draw out SFU (E type module) 2 Nos.
e) Metering module 1 No.
f) Control supply module with control
Transformer output Voltage-110V AC
& accessories 1 No

Note:
a)Control supply for indications and motor start/stop Shall be 110 v AC.
b)Breaker control supply shall be 220v DC (220v DC supply will be provided
by NTPC)

3. TYPE

Circuit Breakers -Shall be air break, three pole, spring charged, and
horizontal draw out type, suitable for local/remote electrical operation.

MCC -Fully draw out type single front.

4. SYSTEM PARAMETERS

415VAC +/- 10 %(SOLIDLY GROUNDED)

5. OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

5.1 Breakers
a)1000A , Triple pole, drawout type ACB with 50kA breaking capacity
with microprocessor based LSIG protection, under voltage coil, spring
charging motor, closing, tripping coil. The breaker should operate on
220VDC control supply. Provision for breaker remote operation should
be available with 24v DCS Command.
b)Incomers shall be provided with remote /local, close/trip
arrangement, Breaker On/Off/Trip Indication, Ammeter and Volt meter
with Selector Switches.
c)Breaker shall have built in interlocks for equipment and personnel
safety.
d)Mechanical tripping shall be through red 'Trip' push button outside
the panels for breakers.
e)Provision of mechanical closing of breaker only in 'Test' and
'Withdrawn' position shall be made. It shall be possible to close the
door with breaker in test position. Breaker should be fitted with
Automatic Safety shutter. Breaker should not be allowed to rack-
in/rack-out in closed condition. Safety lock to be provided in
breaker isolated position to prevent accidental rack-in.
f)Clear status indication for each circuit shall be provided through
lamps, switch positions or other mechanical means.
g)Supervision relays shall be provided for trip coil monitoring.
h)Minimum protection such as Short circuit ,earth fault & Over
current shall be provided

5.2 90KW Outgoing Draw out type motor feeder


Each feeder consisting of the following items as per type 2
coordination.
a) TPN SF unit with Din type HRC fuse of suitable range, utilization
category AC-23-A.
b)3 Pole contactor of suitable range WITH 2NO+2NC AUX.CONTACTS,
Utilization category - AC-3.
c) O/L relay of suitable range.
d) Ammeter of suitable range.
e) R/Y/B indicating lamp - LED type.
f) Control DP MCB with control terminal block.
g) ON/OFF/Control supply Healthy Indicating lamp.
h) Control supply of Module should be 110V AC.
i)All modules shall have provision for using safety locks externally.
j)Provision for remote operation should be available with 24v DCS
Command

5.3 250A draw out SFU (E type module)


250A,E-type drawout type module consists of TPN SFU with Din type HRC
fuse of suitable range, utilization category AC-23-A.
5.4 63A draw out SFU (E type module)
63A,E-type drawout type module consists of TPN SFU with Din type HRC
fuse of suitable range, utilization category AC-23-A.
5.5 Metering module
a)Metering module shall have voltmeter with selector switch.Incoming
supply to voltmeter shall be given through fuses or MCB.
b)Voltmeter shall be flush mounted on front panel, at least 96sq.mm.
Size with 90 degree linear scales and accuracy class of 2.0.
5.6 Control supply module
a)The control supply module consists of two control supply
transformers of suitable VA rating (415/110v) with fuses in both
primary and secondary sides, selector switches,MCBs,LEDS.
b) All Control circuits shall operate at suitable voltage of 110V AC.

6.Wiring
For control wiring 1.5sqmm PVC insulated copper flexible wire of
1100V to be used. For CT Wiring 2.5sqmm PVC insulated copper flexible
wire of 1100V to be used. For power wiring copper flexible wire of
size upto 125A to be used. Above 125A aluminium bus bar with 0.8
current density to be used.

7. DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTIONAL FEATURES


a)Shall be of metal enclosed, indoor, floor mounted and free standing
type.

b)All frames and load bearing members shall be fabricated using mild
steel structural sections or pressed and shaped cold rolled sheet
steel of thickness 3mm.

c)Frame shall be enclosed in cold rolled sheet steel of thickness


2mm.Doors and covers shall also be of cold rolled sheet steel of
thickness 1.6 mm. Stiffeners shall be provided wherever necessary.
Removable gland plates of thickness 3mm (hot/cold rolled sheet steel)
shall be provided for all panels. Approximate Panel Enclosure
dimensions shall be 3100Wx2200Hx900D-mm-Single Front-Drawout.

d)MCC shall be of dust and vermin proof to the degree of protection


IP: 54 as per IS 2147. All cutouts shall have EPDM/Neoprene gaskets.

e)MCC shall have following distinct vertical sections.


i)Completely enclosed bus bar compartment for horizontal and
vertical bus bars.

ii)Completely enclosed switchgear compartments (one for each


circuit housing circuit breakers, motor starter or switch-fuse
feeder).

iii) A full-height vertical cable alley shall be provided for


power and control cables. Cable alley shall have no exposed
live parts and shall have no communication with busbar
compartment. Cable terminations located in cable alley shall be
designed to meet the Form IVb Type 7 (as per IEC 60439) for
safety purpose. The termination for each module shall have its
own integral glanding facility. Wherever cable alleys are not
provided for distribution boards, segregated cable boxes for
individual feeders shall be provided at the rear for direct
termination of cables.

iv)For cable connection to circuit breaker, a separately


enclosed cable compartment shall also be acceptable.

v)Compartment for relays and other control devices associated


with a circuit breaker, wherever applicable.

vi)All draw out modules shall have distinct service, test and
isolated positions with provision of external pad locking
facility in each position. Power contacts shall get
disconnected in both test and isolated positions whereas the
control contacts shall get disconnected in isolated position
only.

f)Busbar system will be 3 phase 4 wire (Neutral 50% size of the phase
busbar).The Power Bus Bar will be Electrolytic Grade PVC Sleeved
Aluminum Bus bar supported with FRP / DMC supports of suitable cross
section (@0.8 Amps/Sq. Mm)shall be considered.
Busbar clearance Phase to Phase and Phase to earth will be as per IS
standards.

g)The switchgear / MCC shall be designed to offer adequate level of


safety to operating/ maintenance personnel. Means shall be provided
to prevent access to the live part to avoid accidents during service
as well as maintenance period. Bidder shall bring out the safety
means provided to achieve above.
h) Indicating lamps shall be cluster LED type. All overload relays
shall have overload reset push button.
j) Switchgear/MCC shall have bottom cable entry.
k) All switchgears, panels, modules and push buttons shall have
prominent engraved identification plates.
l) All non-current carrying metal work of MCC shall be effectively
bonded to earth bus of galvanized steel, extending throughout the
MCC. Earthling shall be maintained for all positions of chassis and
breaker frame.
d) Thermostatically controlled space heaters with switches shall be
provided to prevent condensation.
e) Separate auxiliary bus bars for control supply shall be provided.

7. TYPE TESTS

a)GENERAL
(i) All equipment to be supplied shall be of type tested design. The
Contractor shall submit all the type test report listed in these
specifications for NTPC approval .The type test reports should be carried
out within last five years from the date of bid opening. These reports
should be for the tests conducted on the equipment similar to those
proposed to be supplied under this contract and the test(s) should have
been conducted at an independent laboratory.
(ii) In case the Contractor is not able to submit report of the type
test(s) conducted within last five years from the date of bid opening, or
in case the type test report(s) are not found to be meeting the
specification requirements, the Contractor shall conduct all such tests
under this contract at no additional cost either at third party lab or in
presence of client/owner's representative and submit the reports for
approval.
(iii) The type test reports once approved for any projects shall be
treated as reference. For subsequent projects of NTPC, an endorsement sheet
will be furnished by the manufacturer confirming similarity and "No design
Change". Minor changes if any shall be highlighted on the endorsement
sheet.

b)LT SWITCHGEAR
The following type test certificates on each type & rating of L.T.
Switchgear and MCC panel shall be submitted.

(a)Short time withstand test.


(b)Temperature rise test.
(c)Class II - Protection co-ordination test for 90kw module.
(d)Test sequence –1 & combined test sequence on air circuit breaker mounted
inside the panel.
(e)Degree of protection tests.

8. Vendor shall submit the following documents along with offer for
technical scrutiny:

a)Approved and signed copy of attached NTPC Reference Quality Plan no-
14080R1 OR their detail Manufacturing Quality Plan in-line with our RQP-
14080R1 for NTPC review and approval.
b)Technical data sheet & dimensional drawing of complete switchgear.

9. Successful Vendor shall submit the following documents for NTPC review
and approval.
a) All data sheets
b) GA drawing
c) Schematic drawings
d) Type test reports
e) Quality plan for NTPC review and approval.

10. Pre-dispatch inspection shall be carried out by NTPC office based on


approved quality plan and documents.
