Elaborate the idea of IT security

Upon my perception, the idea of information security is rooted in the word itself which basically
means securing information. This pertains to the practice of protecting information from being
spread without the owner's knowledge or without the source owner's permission and or
protecting information from being stolen by suspicious or unrecognised sources.

Accordingly, confidentiality is one of the key concepts of cybersecurity. It refers to the privacy of
information as well as authorization to view, share and utilise it. As pointed out in the article by
the university of delaware that it is significant for it to secure information, specifically those
which require high levels of confidentiality concerns that must be kept hidden in order to prevent
identity theft, compromise of accounts and systems, legal or reputational damage and other
consequences or risks.
