BEAT THE CALCULATOR

PARENT V. STUDENT
"Print and cut out the set of cards to the right. To
receive the file, scan the QR code,
Place the cards face down on the playing
surface.
Players take turns to flip over a card and race to
work out the answer.
One player uses a calculator and the other works
out the sum mentally.
The calculator player must wait until the answer
is displayed on the calculator before saying it.
The first person to answer correctly is awarded
one point. The first player to 20 points is the
winner."

Feel free to print as few or as many flashcards as

you wish. I would suggest starting out with all, then
narrowing it down to the equations your student
struggles with.

Tips!
Take turns swithcing which player uses the
calculator, and which does paper-pencil.
