Question 02:

More and more young people quit their well-paid jobs

in big cities to relocate in the countryside or
mountainous areas.
Do the advantages of this trend outweigh the
disadvantages?

In recent years, there is an increasing number of youngsters who decide to move to

the rural and mountainous areas instead of going on with their prosperous career in
metropolises. From my point of view, the pros and cons of this development are
equally dominant for a number of reasons.

On the first stage, life in the countryside as well as mountainous areas, to the
youngsters who quitted their prosperous jobs, provides a range of advantages.
Firstly, it brings about a considerably healthier environment. To clarify, they can
escape from the hustle and bustle of big cities so that there will be more fresh food
such as vegetables and fruits instead of pollution. For instance, my cousin had
moved to the countryside for a better atmosphere for his higher treatment in lung
problem. Secondly, the youth may experience a better work-life balance. To
illustrate, there will be fewer challenges in jobs such as working overtime, so they
will have more time to enjoy daily things then balance their time between work
and life.

On the other hand, while attaining a number of benefits, life in the rural and
mountainous regions also has many drawbacks that needed to take into careful
consideration. Firstly, the unemployed youth may experience cultural shock such
as different lifestyles and tastes. For example, the food in the southern part of Viet
Nam is so sour and sweet, which does not happen in the northern. Secondly, there
would be fewer well-paid jobs with basic facilities. Therefore, it is hard to ensure a
satisfying life in those places with these financial burdens.

In conclusion, although life in the countryside and mountainous areas seems to be

easier for some youngsters giving up their jobs, the others may experience some
difficulties.
