Responsible for methodizing all parts to be manufactured into the
CAPP system, reviewing blueprints, Engineering Notices and military
specifications, determining proper machining methods, set-ups and
target hours for all machine shop operations, including fabricating,
welding and assembly. Determined candidate parts for numerical
control machines, worked with programmers to develop set-ups and
review and evaluate employee suggestions. Determined requirement of
jigs, fixtures and special tooling; development of concepts and aid
to draftsman in design process. As the only certified "On the Job
Training" qualified, salaried employee, instrumental in developing
lesson plans for prospective training programs for machine shop
personnel. Frequent road trips to review vendor capabilities and/or
troubleshoot vendor fabrication or machining problems and evaluate
prospective new machine tool acquisitions.
