Content:  Tone refers to the poet’s attitude towards the subject
or topic of the poem.
 Mood is the overall emotion or feeling expressed in the
poem or story.

Examples of moods and feelings:

doubtful fearful afraid

 A poet’s purpose in writing may be to instruct , inform,


entertain, or persuade.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,


And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,


And having perhaps the better claim,

 The tone of the poet in writing the poem is reflective

 In terms of mood, “The Road Not Taken,” is well-
instruct sad worry
crafted because the way you see the mood changes
over the course of the poem and alters its meaning.
You can see the poem as a look back in pride at
having made the right choice — to break new ground
— or you can see it as a regretful recounting of having
made a fateful mistake.

Purpose – The purpose of the poem is to be aware about


life, to seize the day and, as an individual, chooses the road
“less traveled by”.
