comply with these requirements may prejudice any claim under this certificate. This certificate is issued in duplicate, one of which being accomplished, the other to stand null
and void. This certificate is not valid unless countersigned by the Assured or an authorized representative of the Company.
The assignee of this Certificate agrees to inform the Insurer of the assignment of this Certificate on obtaining assignment therof and the assignee having obtained assignment of
this Certificate of Insurance subject to the terms and conditions of the Policy of Insurance confirms having read and understood the terms and conditions of the Policy of
Insurance and agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions therof.
CLAIM INSTRUCTIONS
1. When damage is apparent at the time of delivery
a. Upon accepting delivery of a shipment showing damage, or in the case of non-delivery of part of the shipment, instruct the delivering carrier to make a notation of this
condition, or non-delivery, on the delivery receipt and have the carrier sign it. Obtain a copy of the annotated receipt for submission to the Insurance Company. If the
merchandise is delivered in an overseas container, inspect the external condition of the container, verify the seal number affixed to the container and check the condition of the
seal for signs of tampering. Deficiencies should also be noted on the delivery receipt.
b. Safeguard the merchandise without disturbing the packing or other evidence of damage (including the overseas container) until a survey has been completed, unless further
damage will occur.
c. Immediately report the damage to, and request survey by, the Claim Representative shown on the front of this policy. If no Claim Representatives shown, or if damage is
discovered at a place other than the final country of destination, contact the nearest office of the Company shown below to have a surveyor assigned.
Note: A fee will be charged for this survey. This will be reimbursed
d. Notify the carrier of the loss and afford them the opportunity to attend the survey.
2. Concealed loss or damage
When a shipment has been delivered in apparent good order and loss or damage is discovered upon opening the shipping packages, follow the procedures outlined in 1(b), 1(c)
and1 (d) above.
3. Non-delivery of the entire shipment
When a scheduled shipment fails to arrive, first contact the shipper to confirm shipping information. In the event of continued non-delivery, obtain written confirmation of the
same from the responsible carrier. If the carrier will not confirm the non-delivery in writing, file written notice against them.
4. Claim against the transportation carrier/port authorities/customs authorities.Written claim must be filed against the carrier/port authorities/customs authorities, as may be
applicable, setting forth the amount of claim and requesting the reimbursement in full. Such written claim must be duly acknowledged by the carrier/port/customs authorities.
Failure to do so, and failure to do so in a timely manner, may affect our rights of subrogation and may also reduce the amount of claim paid by this insurance.
5. Settlement of claim with the Insurance Company
When the amount of claim has been established, send the following documents to the office of the Insurance Company located office, send the documents to the office of the
insurance company located in the country where the loss was discovered. if there is no local office , send the documents to HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company Limited
in Mumbai:
a. Claim bill in duplicate.
b. A copy of the bill of lading or other international carrier's receipt.
c. A copy of the delivering carrier's receipt, if other than the above, showing written exceptions.
d. The original, or certified copy, of the invoice, and all packing lists.
e. The original copy of the Claim Representative's survey report.
f. Copies of all written correspondence with the responsible carriers, port. and customs authorities
