Workshop on climate change helps Reading takes me on exquisite quests

change was organized for en-
lightening teachers on the is-
sues and effects of climate change
on the environment.
It was a presentation-based work-
shop for all the teachers. The objec-
tive of the workshop was to strength-
en the understanding of climate
change, its impact and link methods

workshop touched upon the scien-
tific, technical, and social challenges
as well as implications of climate
change on the environment.
Through her presentation, host
Rekha emphasized how the concen-
tration of greenhouse gases such as
carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous
oxide has been substantially in-
creasing with rapid industrial growth
in recent decades. The Earth is be-
coming hotter, people are losing lives
in various parts of the world, the gla-
ciers are melting, which is eventu-
ally causing frequent flooding, cy-
clones, landslides and droughts.
In addition to that, the workshop
accentuated the growing concern of
water scarcity in many parts of the
world which was emphasized
through various videos. Population
growth, urbanization, increased de-
mand in irrigated agriculture and
inadequate water management sys-
tems are the biggest determiners for
water scarcity.
Towards the end, Rekha re-
viewed measures to prevent water
scarcity and identified some small-
scale water-saving practices for
everyone. She also suggested a few
engagements specifically designed
for the students, where they prac-
tice water-saving activities at home
as well as at school. She made a point
on how the school can come forward
as a community and work towards
this great lifesaving cause.
The workshop culminated with
teachers discussing real-life prac-
tices that they have adopted to re-
duce water wastage at home. It was
an enlightening workshop as it
broached all the possible conse-
quences that we might face if the en-
vironmental ruination is not stopped
right away.
So, I think it's time to bring out
books, the stories in them transport us from the avid reader in all of us and get trans-

The Lion Kid is about a 10-month-old
boy called Yugi, who goes to see animals
in the zoo with his mother. His mother
faints because of the heat and Yugi slips
out of her hands and lands in a lion's
den. What dangers Yugi faces and if he
reunites with his mother is the main
plot of the story.
Who is your favourite character from
the book and why?

thought that would make a great name
