THE WORD OF GOD

The WG who is JC (the incarnate Word) as a major source therefore is expressed
in Tradition and SS. It is not 50-50. The WG is in Tradition. The 2 areas (SS & Trad) are
always together, inseparable. Therefore, the Tradition is the actual transmission of the
living faith of the Church known as the living Church. It is this Trad that draws SS
because in the transmission of the faith it underwent movements: from oral trad.-
written tradition. In other words, history is a witness to this, that Jesus underwent
different situations in life in the gospels. That in their oral trad, there are 3 sitz’s (sitz en
liben Jesu, sitz en liben de kierske, sitz en libe evangelio), that there is the 1st layer of tradition
known as the historical Jesus. The historical Jesus- the stories, are transmitted in various
Christian communities where we found the evangelist.
Therefore, there is an interweaving of Trad and SS. This became the movement of
transmission of Divine revelation (oral to written). This transmission cemented in SS is
now given to the Church as a depository of that Trad. Depository means not looking at it
as just depositing it as nothing happens. That is why there are 3 images of the Church as
communal support, meaning, it supports the faithful people of God in their pilgrimage
towards the Kingdom. 3 Images of the Church (CFC & Gula):
a. Shaper of Moral Character
b. Bearer of Moral Tradition
c. Community of Moral Deliberation
These images of the Church are important responsibilities of the Church which you
(presbyters and us[us in such a way that in the future we are to be ministering the Church])
will be the lead agent.
