ACTIVITY 3 – LEVELLING

Answer the ff. problems

Prob. 1

Data shown is obtained from a double rodded line of levels of a certain cross-section of the
proposed Manila-Bataan Road.

a.) Find the diff. in elevation between TP1 and TP3.

b.) Find the elevation of BM2.
c.) What is the difference in elevation between BM1 and TP2.

Prob. 2:

In levelling across a wide river on Pampanga, a reciprocal level reading were taken between
points B and C as shown in the tabulation.

a.) Compute the difference in elevation between B and C with instrument set up near B.
b.) Compute the true difference in elevation between B and C.
c.) If the elevation of B is 346.50 m, compute the elevation of C.
Prob. 3

In the two-peg test of a dumpy level using alternate method, the full observation was taken.

Instrument set up near M Instrument set up near P

Rod Reading on point A 0.296 m 1.563 m
Rod Reading on point B 0.910 m 2.140 m

Point M is equidistant from both A and B, while P is 2.50 m. away from A along the extension of
line AB and 79.27 m from B.

a.) Determine the true difference in elevation between A and B.

b.) Determine the error in the rod reading at B with the instrument still at P.
c.) Determine the correct reading on rod B for a horizontal line of sight with the instrument
still at P.
