To Whom It May Concern:

Please accept this letter of recommendation for Nina Musurlian. Nina completed her final clinical placement
with the UW-Milwaukee Institute for Urban Education (IUE). The IUE is a UW-System program housed at the
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee that offers UW-System students clinical placements in urban school
districts as part of a competitive application process. Nina was selected from a pool of candidates for a paid
internship because she demonstrated a high level of professionalism and initiative as a future educator. For
her internship, she was placed in a diverse school in Racine Unified school district where she excelled while
also adapting to the COVID pandemic.

However, this school year, Nina had a unique situation that affected her internship along with the others in her
cohort. Due to a licensing technicality, the Racine Unified interns were re-classified as student teachers mid-
way through the semester. Despite this technicality, Nina exhibited a flexible attitude and excellent
professionalism during her clinical placement through challenging and difficult circumstances. The title didn’t
matter to Nina, she continued in service to every student in their classroom. In fact, her Racine Unified school
administrator noted that Nina consistently engaged in dynamic teaching, excellent leadership, and astute
professionalism.

Additionally, Nina participated in bi-weekly culturally relevant practices cohort sessions while teaching and
attending her university mandated seminar. She exhibited full engagement and investment in learning
culturally relevant pedagogy, which is the foundation of the IUE program. Based on our experiences with Nina
and her cohort, we found Nina to be knowledgeable, have a strong ability to work with others, and be quite
motivated to learn. Overall, The IUE believes that Nina will be a highly successful educator at any school she
chooses.
