Instructions: Answer the following questions in at least five (5) sentences.

1. Among the wired media, which do you think is the most stable in terms of uninterrupted
connectivity? Elaborate on your answer.

Based on my observation, the most stable wired media in terms of uninterrupted

connectivity is fiber optic cable. Fiber optic cable is a bundle of extremely thin and cylindrically
shaped glass fibers surrounded by a concentric layer of glass coating that can conduct
modulated light transmissions. It might be the most expensive wired medium, but it provides
the fastest data transmission rates. It is reliable since it carries data over light signals through
its own spiffy network. It made our lives easier. Fiber optic patch cords carry information over
great distances in no time and in safe environments. Moreover, they are used in so many
domains! These are just a few examples of how fiber optic cables can be used in the day-to-day
life:

Computer networking – to boost communication speed.

Medical field – for surgery and dentistry.
Internet connection.
Enhancing cable TV.
Decorations.
Military and space applications – provides a reliable, safe, and fast medium
for data transmission.

Further, it is a reliable solution. The weather conditions do not influence the fiber optic
cables conditions in any way, they remain dependable, and the connectivity will not be
interrupted by heat, moisture, or even lightning. Also, it's a low-cost option. The overall
expenses of ownership, which include installation, maintenance, and consumption, are lower in
the long term than other options. It has low maintenance requirements and the expenses of
maintenance reduce over time. Thus, it is the most stable wired media in terms of uninterrupted
connectivity.

Among the wireless medium technologies, I do consider microwave as the most

appropriate nowadays. Microwave refers to a wireless medium that is used for unicast
communication such as wireless PAN (Bluetooth), broadband wireless access or wireless MAN
(WiMAX), wireless WAN (2G/3G cellular networks), satellite networks and radar, and wireless
LANs (Wi-Fi). Communication is made easier since microwave is not just a medium that is used
for short-range communication like the infrared and Bluetooth, it is a line-of-sight wireless
communication technology that uses high frequency beams of radio waves to provide high speed
wireless connections that can send and receive voice, video, and data information. We can be
able to communicate with this in a larger scale. For instance, through using our wireless LANs
(Wi-Fi), we can call or chat our loved ones who are far away from us, which is up to date in
today’s society.

In addition, the operation and working of a GPS or a global positioning system are based
on microwaves. It is also used in several communication techniques such as satellite
communication, cellular communication, point-to-point communication, spacecraft communication,
wireless communication, and optical communication. Truly, among the wireless medium
technologies presented, the most appropriate nowadays is microwave.
