 ASSESSMENT
 Self-Reflection:
The mastery of subject matter empowers the student teacher with
knowledge for critical thinking and the capacity to help learners to grasp the
appropriate knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values. I chose to include the
demonstration of the mastery of the subject matter because it is very
important, as a student with or without prompting, we should demonstrate an
understanding of the content that we are learning, its significance to our
leaning, the skills and strategies necessary to master the content, and its
interconnectedness to authentic learning. On the subject Philippine
Traditional Dances, I chose an activity which is the multiple choice because
based on each question it shows an understanding about the content of the
topic. I carefully chose my answers based on my knowledge and
understanding.
Teachers’ Reflection:
History and Nature of Dance
CONCEPT REVIEW
 Briefly define the meaning of dance. Discuss its nature and history.
--- Dance is a performing art. It is described in many ways. It is when
people move to a musical rhythm. They may be alone, or in a group. The
dance may be an informal play, a part of a ritual, or a part of a professional
performance. The Nature of Dance presents dance work that in its very
essence gives voice to many dance styles. The value of this production is seen
not only the combination of various dance styles its profiles, but also that it
highlights the value of collaboration, marrying the dance ethos of today with
long established schools of dance. From the earliest moments of known human
history, dance accompanied ancient rituals, spiritual gatherings and social
events.
As a conduit of trance, spiritual force, pleasure, expression, performance and
interaction, dance became infused into our nature from the earliest moments
of our existence - from the moment when first African tribes covered
themselves in war-paint to the to the spreading of music and dance across all
four corners of the world. Without a doubt, dancing remains one of the most
expressive forms of communications that we know.

 ASSESSMENT
Self-Reflection:
I chose to include this activity because it is important for me as a future
Physical Education teacher to know and understand the nature and history of
dances. It is essential for us to have a knowledge and understanding of dance
history because it allows us to gain better understanding surrounding the
events, challenges, and celebrations that helped to form the people who
developed our art form. And I wanted to share that ‘Future is the product of
History’, so in order for us to know what is happening, we must study what
happened in the past. Just like in dances, we must study the origin where
dance was created to understand and appreciated the modern dances in
todays’ generation.
Teachers’ Reflection:

Improve flexibility Stress reliever

Mental Social
Ease anxiety Builds social bonds
Sharpens the mind Increase confidence

Cultural
Provide self-discipline
Provide an overall community feeling of well-being and togetherness
 ASSESSMENT

Self-Reflection:
I choose to include this activity because it has an importance. Dancing can
be a way to stay fit for people of all ages, shapes, and sizes. It doesn’t just
benefit our physical aspect but it has also a wide range of social, mental,
emotional, and cultural benefits. I believe that many of us are doing dances
every day or at least once a week especially those who are fun of tiktok, but
sometimes we don’t realize or appreciate the benefits of dance. So, I included
this activity to highlights that understanding and appreciating the benefits of
dance is important to motivate us especially in our physical health.

Teachers’ Reflection: Tinikling Dance (Motif and Movements)

FIND THE MOTIF
Watch a video online of the Tinikling dance from the Internet or from any
media source. Observe and identify the motif by describing the movements
used. Write and share your observations with the class. The tinikling dance is
originated in Leyte, island in Visayas. It imitates the movement of the tikling
birds as they walk between grass stems, run over tree branches, or dodge
bamboo traps set by rice farmers. The movement used in tinikling are leaping,
hopping and skipping. In other countries, a 4/4 tempo is used but here in the
Philippines we sustain the use of the ¾ tempo. There is a need to explain fully
the variation to avoid confusion. Both feet of dancers are inside the poles.

ASSESSMENT

Self-Reflection:
Motif development is essential when choreographing a dance as it acts as a
building block for your routine. Developing a motif allows you to change
certain things about the motif, for example you can change the actions or
dynamics in the dance. Doing this to each motif you create enables you to play
around with your routine or reinforce the theme of your dance. I chose to
include this activity also to highlights the motif and movements of dance
particularly in our national dance which is the tinikling and its origin. I have
learned that tinikling was originated in Leyte and the steps came from the
movement of the tikling birds. The reason why I included this activity is also
to appreciate the values that are important to the Philippines such as nature
and life.
