I envision there are billions of stars and constellations continuously shifting, altering, and
growing indefinitely to create everything on Earth and everything we've ever known. But I can
also envision God, like a magician, waving his hands and all the elements coalescing to make the
planet, the cosmos, and all the humans who will ever exist. Possibly we have also poofed into
existence by occurrence, our destinies intertwining and conspiring for a time when we needed to
exist. But then, what does it all mean, what can it all mean? What does it really mean to exist?
How is human existence important?

As someone who has grown to study in a Christian School during my elementary years, I
was first taught to believe that we were made to existence by God within seven days. During
those times, I solely believed that during the first daylight was created; then during the second
day, the sky was created; on the third day, dry land, seas, plants and trees were created. During
the fourth day, the Sun, Moon and stars were created; on the fifth day, creatures that live in the
sea and creatures that fly were created; during the sixth day, animals that live on the land and
finally humans, made in the image of God were created; and lastly by day seven, God finished
his work of creation and rested, making the seventh day a special holy day.

But as I continue with my journey, particularly, when I stepped into high school, we were
introduced to the Theory of Evolution by Charles Darwin, states that evolution occurs through
natural selection; individuals within a species differ in their physical characteristics. As a result,
only those individuals who are best suited to their environment survive, and the species will
gradually evolve over time. I have then discerned that there were more theories and ideology
about human existence. Honestly, I got a bit confused and perplex by the thought of it, I really
don’t know what I should believe and understand among all those.

But then, I come to the point where I get to realize that there’s no need to compare and
weigh all of these. They are valid and factual, all we should do is to respect and accept the
diverse beliefs of everyone. Because in mere actuality, what matters most is our existence. We
humans are blessed because we were all given life and the chance to live it with such meaning
and purpose. We should appreciate, not just the different versions of the origin of our existence,
but the essence of our existence.
