Install the oil pump screen to the oil The oil pump screen should be checked

the top of the oil pump screen on both

The oil pump screen must be parallel and


to a specified 6-1/2-inch distance above
the pan rails. In the event the oil pump
screen requires adjustment, loosen the
oil pump screen tube locknut and rotate
the screen in the pump body to obtain the
correct setting. Then torque the locknut
to 20 ft. lbs.

Pressure Checking Engine Oil Cooler

1. Install test plates (made locally)


with gasket, pressure gauge, air control
valve and quick connect air coupler.

2. Immerse oil cooler assembly in a


container of water, preferably to a tem-
perature of 1500 F to stabilize metal parts
of the cooler.

3. Apply 80 lbs. of air pressure while


the oil cooler is immersed in water.
This pressure is sufficient to detect any
