Unethical Behavior Identified: -

Wrappers, plates, and uneaten food being left on benches near the tuck shops, and on the tables
of cafe and IST mess by the students and faculty.

Problem Statement: -
Pollution is one of the major problems facing the world today. Among the many kinds of
pollution is land and environmental pollution. One form of it is wrappers, plates and other
cutlery, and even uneaten food being left on the tables and benches. This problem is also
prevalent in the premises of IST, where students and faculty after buying from the tuck shops,
café, or mess leave the wrappers of foods like biscuits, chips, sandwiches, and other items, along
with bottles and glasses of juices and milk shakes on the tables and benches where they were
previously eating instead of properly disposing them in the dustbins located near their seats. This
is also true for disposable plates. In the case of IST mess, notices have been pasted on multiple
surfaces like doors and windows to place the dirty plates on the designated table but this is
ignored not only by the students but also the faculty. Sometimes uneaten food is also found on
these tables and benches.
This is a highly unethical behavior as both students and faculty are mature enough to understand
that trash needs to be thrown in waste baskets and disposed of properly, and should not need any
external indication to guide them to carry out this task. However this is still not the case in IST
premises as even with the presence of notices advising against this, they are ignored by the
people.
