TECHNOLOGY
P9010 & P9010e TURBOJET ENGINE TEST STAND

EXPERIMENTAL CAPABILITY
 Demonstration of the Turbo jet principle
 Performance analysis of a Turbojet at varying power

INTRODUCTION
Turbojets are used as high performance jet engines in
aircrafts and to provide the core of the very successful
turbofan engines used on the great majority of airliners.
Cussons Turbojet Engine Test Stand provides a fully
functioning, aero derivative small jet turbine. The jet turbine
thrust can be measured and outputs up to 230N can be
achieved.

The unit is provided with a mimic diagram displaying the

temperatures of the gas flow and engine pressure ratio. Air
flow, fuel flow and rotational speed measurement mean that
an energy balance for the engine can be undertaken.

DESCRIPTION
A tailpipe ducts the gas into a thrust producing jet. The

The whole engine and air inlet unit is

mounted on two sliding rails, constrained
by a linear thrust transducer.

Temperatures are measured for air inlet,

fuel inlet compressor outlet, combustion
chamber outlet and tail pipe stream.
Pressures are measured as ambient air
pressure, air inlet differential pressure and
compressor outlet pressure.

Product P9010 displays indications on a

P9010e includes a data acquisition
system that records and displays
indications on a screen mimic.

PURCHASE SPECIFICATION
A trolley mounted single shaft turbojet designed for flight is to
be supplied so as to demonstrate the turbojet principle. It is
to be instrumented, so as to all allow a performance analysis
of the turbojet at various speeds to be undertaken.
The unit should alternatively be provided with a physical
mimic diagram plate or be instrumented for data acquisition
and a digital mimic diagram.

Thrust produced must greater than the range up to 230N

and be measured electronically. Speed is to be up to
110,000 rpm and full power pressure is to be over 2 bar. The
fuel is to be kerosene.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
 Exhaust duct with very low back pressure (or a safe vent
directly to an outside area). INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

 It is recommended that a safe cordon of 10 metres be Single phase power supply (please specify when
enforced around the rear of the unit, which should vent ordering)
into or be open to atmosphere.

 Never aim the exhaust at locations where humans or

animals can wander into, note that plant life can be
dried out and subsequently ignited by the hot jet stream, DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHTS
so point it away from trees and shrubs.
Length: 216cm
 A ducted silencer will reduce some of the sonic noise but Width: 100cm
does not suppress the majority of it, thus the use of high Height: 185cm
protection ear defenders is HIGHLY recommended.
Gross weight: 360kg
Operating decibel values: 110 dB at 7 metres and 125 dB
Nett weight: 270kg
at 1 metre (Engine operators distance).
