Maintenance
OPERATOR PERIODIC MAINTENANCE –
PATIENT CIRCUIT

Several times a day, as necessary, or as

required per institutional protocol:
▪ Check the patient circuit, water
traps, and drain bag for water
accumulation.
▪ Empty and clean as needed.
OPERATOR PERIODIC MAINTENANCE

Replace the patient circuit per

institutional protocol and/or the
design for use ( DFU) instructions.
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE – O2 SENSOR
CALIBRATION

A minimum of once every 24

hours during use, several times a
day if necessary, or as required
per institutional protocol:
▪ Prepare to calibrate the
oxygen sensor by connecting
to a high pressure,
compressed, 100% oxygen
gas source.
▪ Press Vent Setup (or Menu),
Setup, More Settings and
then Calibrate O2 Sensor
buttons.
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE – AIR INLET FILTER BOWL

Several times a day or as

required per institutional
protocol:
▪ Check the air inlet filter
bowl for moisture.
▪ If any sign of moisture is
visible, remove the
ventilator from use and
contact service personnel.
▪ Replace the bowl if it is
cracked.
OPERATOR PERIODIC MAINTENANCE – COOLING FAN
FILTER

▪ Clean the cooling fan filter

every 250 hours or as
necessary.
▪ Wash in mild soap solution,
rinse, and air dry.
OPERATOR PERIODIC MAINTENANCE – COMPRESSOR
INLET AIR FILTER

▪ Clean the air inlet filter

every 250 hours or as
necessary.
▪ Wash in mild soap solution,
rinse, and air dry.
OPERATOR PERIODIC MAINTENANCE – STORAGE FOR
EXTENDED PERIODS

To store the ventilator:

1. Clean the unit thoroughly.
2. Remove any batteries and
accessories.

To return the ventilator to service:

1. Install batteries.
2. Recharge batteries prior to patient
ventilation. If batteries are older than
three (3) years, use new batteries.
3. Perform EST and SST prior to patient
ventilation.

1. 15 minute Warm-up
2. Electrical Safety Testing
3. Touchscreen Calibration
4. VENT INOP Test
5. Atmospheric Pressure Calibration
6. Flow Sensor Calibration
7. Expiratory Valve Calibration
8. EST
9. SST
10. Oxygen Sensor Calibration
11. Performance Verification Testing (PVT)
PB980 PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE – OXYGEN SENSOR
REPLACEMENT:

▪ Replace after one (1) year from

date of sensor installation or
sooner if necessary.
▪ NOTE: actual sensor life
dependent on operating
environment.
▪ Operation at higher
temperatures or O2% levels
will result in shorter sensor
life.
PB980 PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE –
BATTERY REPLACEMENT:

▪ Every 3 years
▪ When EST indicates battery
life has been exhausted
▪ When the battery fails
