This was my 2nd duty in the OB ward in EVRMC Cabalawan, It was less hectic because
I already had an experience but still not competent and efficient enough. I’ve quite learned a lot
from my previous mistakes especially in the pedia ward, I couldn’t demonstrate medication
administration properly. The patient that was assigned to me was quite friendly and talkative,
that is why I had a comprehensive interview because she was cooperative. Before, when it was
my first time to audit, I tend to copy information which are irrelevant and it’s very time
consuming. Now I am able to analyze which information would be useful to include in my
paperworks and nursing care plans. I’ve learned a lot especially on how to prime a blood set
and it was my first time to see a sedimented RBC. I was also fascinated by the ECG monitor in
the intensive care room because recently, I’ve been learning how to read it (so far it was a
normal sinus rhythm). I’ve also learned how to measure urine output and it was quite smart to
use old IV bottles because there is a calibration in the middle, so it was quite easy to measure.

I always forget the information I read about IV. Even though I’ve recently read how to
prime in the Kozier book. I actually enjoy learning and applying to real life because you tend to
use higher levels of learning rather than theory.
