FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATIONAL PRODUCT RECALL OF GROUND BEEF PATTIES

AUSTIN, Texas, February 8, 2022 — Big Burger Company (NASDAQ: BIGB) today issued a
national product recall of 100,000 pounds of ground beef burger patties with the date stamp of
January 2022, effective immediately. These beef patties were sold to commercial food service
purveyors and grocers around the country. After discovering a quality problem with the product
BIGB immediately notified the U.S. Department of Agriculture, USDA, which issued a
nationwide alert. The reason for the recall was due to higher levels of bacteria being found
during a quality assurance inspection of ground beef patties produced at BIGB’s primary beef
processing plant in Austin, Texas. BIGB does these quality assurance inspections regularly at
random times each month. Arianna White, Vice President of quality assurance at BIGB, said,
“We pride ourselves on safety here at BIGB which is why we run quality assurance inspections
of all our products at least four times a month. We use the same inspections for bacteria and
contamination at our poultry burger processing plant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and at our
vegetarian burger processing facility in Asheville, North Carolina. Both processing facilities are
100 percent compliant and safe. While we hope to never have to make product recalls, we do it
immediately if needed in order to protect the health and safety of all our customers.”
